UPDATE: No words.
the current director of national intelligence is a guy who two years ago received a trophy declaring he “Fucks Only The Young” at an (oddly dildo focused) event he organized dedicated to the conspiracy that Bed Bath and Beyond never actually went bankrupt

Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard resigned last month, ostensibly to help care for her husband as he deals with cancer treatments. Gabbard’s replacement, announced by President Trump today, is a man who has absolutely NO EXPERIENCE in security, military, or intelligence matters.
As The New York Times reports:
President Trump on Tuesday named Bill Pulte, who in his role running a federal housing agency pressed for investigations into the president’s political foes, to serve as acting director of national intelligence, giving him oversight of the United States intelligence agencies.
Mr. Pulte has no known background in intelligence, military or national security, but he is a Trump loyalist who has been among the most aggressive advocates for prosecuting Democrats and others perceived by Mr. Trump as having crossed him…
…Mr. Pulte will continue to run the housing agency while taking on the position of director of national intelligence.
Mr. Pulte did not respond to a message seeking comment.
On paper, the director of national intelligence, a role created after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, is among the most powerful of cabinet positions, responsible for coordinating the work of the C.I.A. and a host of other agencies. But Mr. Trump has never seen it as an important role, his advisers have said previously, and in his first term, he believed the staff working for that office were leaking information about him.
Because Pulte is designated as the “acting” DNI, he doesn’t have to face confirmation from the Senate. That’s by design, since Pulte would likely have trouble getting Senate approval; Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn said today that there is “no evidence of any qualification” for Pulte to be handed such an important job. Senate Majority Leader John Thune made it clear that Pulte would have serious trouble getting Senate approval for a permanent role.
Pulte appears to have gotten the job because he is blindly loyal to Trump and has demonstrated that he is willing to do and say whatever Trump wants. As POLITICO explains, Pulte has been smart enough to regularly attack Trump’s enemies — even from his unrelated position as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency:
Pulte made headlines last year for recommending the Department of Justice investigate Democratic lawmakers, Federal Reserve board member Lisa Cook and New York Attorney General Letitia James over unproven allegations of mortgage fraud. None of the allegations have led to a conviction.
But it’s helped him earn a powerful ally in the president.
“KEEP MOVING FORWARD, WILLIAM, DON’T LET THE RADICAL LEFT WEAKLINGS STOP YOU!” Trump wrote on Truth Social in July 2025.
Pulte also advocated for Congress to investigate then-Fed Chair Jerome Powell over the renovation of the central bank’s headquarters and promoted a widely panned 50-year mortgage idea championed by Trump.
We’ll update this post with reaction from Colorado’s Congressional delegation.
