Colorado Republicans are not serious people interested in discussing serious things. But don’t take our word for it.
State Rep. Ken “Dildo” DeGraaf (R-Colo. Springs) demonstrated today — again — that his only purpose in serving in the state legislature is to draw attention to his own idiocy.
During debate today on a supplemental appropriations bill for the Department of Corrections (HB26-1151), DeGraaf said — out loud — that he doesn’t think the DOC should get any more money from the state on account of the fact that former Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters is in jail.
DEGRAAF: And when we’re talking about spending money wisely, I have a hard time thinking that the Department of Corrections needs more money when the Governor can keep a political prisoner, 70 years old, not in for any sort of violent crime…recently assaulted, and rumor has it that this person who recently assaulted [Tina Peters] is decades younger and has been offered parole for being the goon squad of the Governor, the Secretary [of State], and the AG [Attorney General].
And so I have a hard time saying that this department needs money.
The “assault” that DeGraaf keeps talking about is from an incident in January of which the only charitable description is that another inmate forced her neck into the outstretched hands of Peters. DeGraaf’s claim is patently absurd given that video evidence CLEARLY shows that it was Peters who was the aggressor in this situation.
It’s possible that DeGraaf doesn’t understand any more than President Trump about why Peters is (rightfully) serving a long jail sentence. Quite frankly, it has become difficult to tell whether this attention-seeking nitwit is just doing his version of performative politics or if his brain has been so melted by MAGA social media that he can no longer differentiate between reality and fiction. Either way, none of this is good for Colorado Republicans or House Minority Leader Jarvis Caldwell.
If you’d like to watch DeGraaf’s silly remarks, you’re in luck: DeGraaf POSTED HIS DIATRIBE to his own ‘X’ account as a point of pride. That alone says more than we could articulate on our own.
