Everybody Hates Gabe Evans

You didn’t think I meant any of that, did you?

Many politicians have unique abilities that allow them to ascend to higher office…

Those same abilities can also cause them to quickly descend from lofty political heights.

Republican George Santos, for example, used his, um, “exaggeration abilities” to win election to Congress in 2022 before later becoming just the sixth person in history to be expelled from the U.S. House of Representatives — thanks to his same flair for falsity.

Freshman Rep. Gabe Evans (R-Ft. Lupton) doesn’t spin the same sort of ridiculous tales that got Santos into trouble, but Evans does have a supernatural ability to lie about virtually everything. Evans lies about his family history. He lies about Republican policies. He lies about Democratic policies. When he gets caught, Evans doubles down and lies some more.

Evans is so transparently full of shit that he is now in trouble with the people who make up his base of support. Republican Adam Derito recently launched a Primary challenge against Evans in CO-08 after realizing that Gabe had no intention of actually listening to anything that his former supporters had to say. Evans also recently drew the ire of right-wing Coloradans, such as State Rep. “Boxwine” Brandi Bradley, over last week’s vote on legislation meant to criminalize gender-affirming care treatments.

Evans was one of just four Republicans to vote against the “Protect Children’s Innocence Act” that narrowly passed out of the House of Representatives last week. From CNN:

The House on Wednesday voted to pass a bill that could imprison health care providers for providing gender-affirming care for minors.

The bill — titled the “Protect Children’s Innocence Act” and sponsored by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia — would make it a class C felony to treat minors with gender-affirming care like surgeries and puberty blockers. If enacted, the bill could imprison doctors who provide such care for up to ten years.

We should note here that we absolutely do not agree with this ridiculous legislation that will almost certainly advance no further because the Senate won’t bother trying to bring it up. As CNN continues:

Civil rights groups including the American Civil Liberties Union described Greene’s bill as “the most extreme anti-trans legislation ever considered by Congress.”

Ahead of the vote, Democratic Rep. Sarah McBride criticized congressional Republicans as being “obsessed with trans people.”

“I actually think they think more about trans people than trans people think about trans people,” said McBride, who is the first out transgender member of Congress.

Anyway, Evans’s decision to vote “NO” on this legislation so angered Rep. Bradley that she went on a social media tirade that included posting an apparent back-and-forth discussion with Evans via text message:

Bradley also called Evans a coward, though she has since deleted that post on ‘X.’ Fortunately, we have it here:

Gabe Evans enters 2026 as the most endangered Republican incumbent in Congress, and for good reason. When you try to be all things to all people — or when you attempt to just ignore everyone — the result is usually the same in politics:

You end up without a job.
