In the latest newsletter from the Jefferson County Republican Party, presently chaired by convicted felon firearms enthusiast Rich Wyatt, we find a message about candidate recruitment for the upcoming 2o26 midterm elections:
We know that who our candidates are truly matters. That’s why the Jefferson County Republican Party is actively seeking individuals who are ready to step up and make a difference. We are looking for candidates who have deep ties to their community and a passion for public service.
Based on recent elections, we know that voters expect candidates to be exceptional leaders with distinguishing qualities. We are looking for authentic individuals [Pols emphasis] who can communicate effectively, align with their district’s values, and earn broad support from unaffiliated voters and even conservative Democrats.
If you care about improving Jefferson County and Colorado, the most impactful way to do so is by running for office and winning. We are committed to investing in good candidates and helping them prepare for a successful campaign.
To illustrate the “authentic individuals” with “distinguishing qualities” that Jeffco Republicans are looking for to win the hearts and minds of swing voters next year, the following image:

Now that is a lovely group of what certainly looks at a glance like a crew of “authentic individuals!” But if you look closely, our “authentic” friends have some telltale peculiarities:

Issues that do not appear in nature are readily apparent on close examination, easily flagging this as a fake AI-generated image. For some reason that nobody has explained to us, artificial intelligence has a terrible problem drawing fingers. The young woman on the left apparently has six, and the woman standing next to her has interlaced fingers that appear to be broken. Next to her are fingers that seem to be connected at the tips and, well, you get the idea. At least for the cheap AI you can access for free, weird fingers are a dead giveaway.
Then again, it’s probably easier to “shape the future” with all those fingers.
Which is not to say that AI couldn’t be used to create an “authentic” image of Jefferson County Republicans. It just wouldn’t be the group of young, diverse, attractive people you see above. More like this:

Or, you could just use photos of real Jefferson County Republicans? First it’s necessary to get them into a room together, which isn’t easy because they’re not overly fond of one another. And these days there’s just not many of them in office.
But at least that would be, you know, authentic.
