Democratic Members of Colorado’s Congressional delegation strongly condemned Thursday’s unprecedented action in Los Angeles in which a sitting U.S. Senator (Sen. Alex Padilla) was forcibly removed from a press conference being held by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
Republicans in Colorado’s delegation were decidedly less concerned.
Thanks to Colorado Public Radio and social media, we know how each of Colorado’s four Republicans responded (or didn’t) to the images of Padilla being roughly removed from Noem’s press conference for having the temerity to attempt to ask a question. Here are those comments:
Rep. Lauren Boebert used retweets to make her views clear. She surfaced a two-year-old post from Padilla, in which he wrote, “NO ONE is above the law. Share if you agree.” It is unclear what law Boebert believes Padilla broke.
She also retweeted a former Newsmax producer’s message: “BREAKING: Democrats endorse storming press conferences of government officials and rushing toward the podium where they are speaking.”
Kyle Clark of 9News pointed out the irony here:
Rep Lauren Boebert (R) suggests Sen Padilla (D) committed a federal crime by interfering with officers.
Boebert has expertise on that (based on her own 2015 arrest) and a history of supporting law enforcement (except the officers attacked by J6 rioters, whose pardons she backed)

Crank followed Boebert’s lead by also accusing Padilla of breaking some unspecified law:
Freshman Rep. Jeff Crank told CPR News it was “another example of the Left intentionally impeding law enforcement.”
Identifying yourself as a U.S. Senator and attempting to ask a question at an open press conference is…impeding law enforcement?
CPR News also reached out to GOP Rep. Gabe Evans’ office for comment, and will update if we receive a response.
To the surprise of nobody, CPR News has not needed to update their story. Evans is focused on, shall we say, other things.
The “Bread Sandwich” pulled a “Cory Gardner” when approached by CPR News:
When asked about the incident while leaving a vote in the House, freshman GOP Rep. Jeff Hurd said he had not seen the video and didn’t want to comment until he does.
Hurd must have been literally the only Member of Congress who had NOT seen the Padilla video.

Doubt that any of these four have studied or understand fascism. They probably believe fascism is what the Dear Leader tells them, even though DJT is leading us into fascism. SCOTUS fascist supporters Alito and Thomas are helping DJT fulfill the Russell Vought Project 2025 mission to pursue fascist goals. Scary
