Arizona Republican Party Sends Second Mail Piece for Gabe Evans

  •
  • by: Colorado Pols

Arizona has nine congressional districts…or 10 if you count Colorado’s eighth congressional district.

As we noted last week, the Arizona Republican Party sent out a mailer in support of Republican Gabe Evans, who is trying to unseat Democratic Rep. Yadira Caraveo in CO-08. This was a strange expenditure that we have never seen in 20+ years of involvement in Colorado politics, but it potentially could have been categorized as a vendor error or something similar.

Not anymore.

We received a tip on Monday about another pro-Evans mailer from the Arizona Republican Party that eliminates the possibility of a one-off mistake

Again, this is quite strange and is not something we have encountered before in Colorado politics. It’s not ideal for a candidate to be receiving help like this from another state, so why is it happening for Evans?

We created this helpful graphic for Arizona Republican Party officials.

It’s entirely possible that the Colorado Republican Party has neither the means nor the ability to produce direct mail for Evans after spending most of its time (and money) litigating internal squabbles. The Colorado GOP is being all but looted by Chairman Dave Williams and didn’t appear to spend a dime helping other Republican candidates in August. To the extent that the Colorado GOP is doing any electioneering work, it is mostly centered around promoting unfounded nonsense about schools conducting sex-change surgeries and/or a nefarious plot from administrators and teacher’s unions to turn children into drag queens.

We won’t know until at least next week — when the next round of financial disclosures are required — as to how much money the Arizona Republican Party is spending to promote candidates who are NOT IN ARIZONA. This is a story that demands additional reporting and investigation; the answer could say a lot about both the Colorado Republican Party and the Arizona Republican Party.
