If Brian Carroll and Andy Szekeres had any hopes that there would be at least a few elected officials backing Carroll’s intent to put Rep. Andy Kerr into a primary, they’re probably long gone now.
Kerr’s first e-mail invite to his high profile fundraising event at State Senator Pat Steadman’s home read like a who’s who of Colorado’s GLBT advocacy community.
The follow up e-mail, though, reads like a who’s who of Democratic politics:

cordially invite you to a fundraiser in support of pro-equality hero
Andy Kerr
Kerr’s event is being co-hosted (even if honorarily) by nearly every noteworthy Democrat involved with the legislature in some capacity. If Carroll and company didn’t take the hint before, they’re certainly paying attention now. It’s a hard message to ignore: Democrats support Andy Kerr, and they don’t support Carroll’s primary challenge.
Of course, Carroll probably does enjoy the implicit support of at least one state representative: Ken Summers. We’re sure the Republican is overjoyed at the prospects of Democratic in-fighting in the race to capture his seat.

I think the Carroll candidacy has about as much of a life span as attention is paid to it.
I have a feeling there will be more before the event date — Facebook event is being updated regularly.
It greatly upsets me to see a talented young Democrat wasted on challenging a prominent LGBT advocate. This is a race Carroll can’t win by any stretch of the imagination. Meanwhile, numerous important races in Jefferson County lack a Democratic candidate. This needs to stop, and the sooner the better.
Kerr’s home turf, where he is unbeatable in any primary. A reanimated John F. Kennedy couldn’t beat Kerr in Lakewood.
In previous posts, a couple people mentioned that Szekeres posts here…
What does he have to say for himself and how he’s destroyed Carroll’s political career?
Although I can’t fathom why Szekeres advised him the way he allegedly did, if he indeed did so, Carroll was perfectly capable of doing exactly what any other person given the same advice would have done… probably something involving hysterical laughter and a suggestion that Szekeres might want to get some rest before he starts having ideas like that on a regular basis.
If Carroll’s political “career” is indeed destroyed before it ever got off the ground, the blame rests with him more than with Szekeres. I hope that he will accept as much when inevitably he either withdraws from this primary or concedes the race on Election Day.
(Not trying to defend Szekeres here; advising someone to primary Kerr is just flat out ridiculous. But every politician gets bad advice. The successful ones avoid taking it.)
Young and a little naive maybe, but good guys. I suspect they are doing it to get Brian some name recognition, and for Szekeres to keep employed. Don’t be too hard on them. We all know Andy Kerr has this one in the bag.
In two years Andy K is term-limited. I hope Spec. Carroll keeps his tone positive and make positive contcts with these very people now supporting Kerr.
If he does, he’ll have a good chance to be in the Dem nominee in 2014. I might even give him a few bucks then.
take a voluntary position first. Get on your local Planning Commission, run for City Council. The leg needs people with more experience, not none
Don’t ever talk about Republican primary “insider control” again, ok?
Why not? If it happens, it’s worth talking about. Especially if shills like yourself are going around trying to imply that GOP insider control is a myth.
Spec. Carroll is challenging Andy Kerr in a primary and people are supporting their candidate of choice. I don’t know why that’s “insider control”. Are those individuals listed supposed to support Carroll simply to make it more competitive? When Mr. Carroll comes up with a legitimate reason that he will better serve his district than Rep. Kerr then maybe he’ll get some support. He hasn’t made that case yet.
Don’t tell us you’re through denying it again, ok?
