Boebert + Gaetz: The Band Is Back Together

  • by: Colorado Pols

Apologies, not the band. The squad:

Reps. Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert last January.

Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz, representing the region of Sunshine State affectionately known as “Floribama,” remains under a cloud as an investigation into alleged trafficking of underage women for sex continues. Gaetz’s alleged partner in crime, former Seminole County tax collector Joel Greenberg, is reportedly singing like a canary to federal prosecutors, who just this week added more lawyers to the probe into Gaetz’s role in the larger sex trafficking investigation. Gaetz’s regularly erratic behavior took another bizarre turn this week on the floor of the U.S. House when he announced “I think someone may be trying to kill me” based on an anonymous Twitter threat he allegedly received.

Everybody remembers what Rep. Lauren “Q*Bert” Boebert, seated next to Rep. Gaetz in the photo above taken this week, had to say when she was last questioned about Gaetz’s scandals back in April right?

“Isn’t he from Florida? I’m from Colorado,” GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert said in response to questions about Gaetz. [Pols emphasis]

Sometime between then and the present day, if there ever was any real attempt to put distance between the two after close collaboration at the very beginning for Boebert’s term, it looks like Boebert and Gaetz got things patched up! It’s always struck us as odd how, after Boebert’s professed support for the “QAnon” conspiracy theory that involves as a central plot point the trafficking of children, she’s become so persistently cozy with a guy accused of trafficking actual children.

Also, Rep. Boebert was born in Florida. So that answer was always kind of silly.

  1. Worrying about sex trafficking while hanging out with sex traffickers is not surprising, inasmuch as it comes from the people that complain about election fraud while stealing elections.

  2. There is an add-on to that picture, from Yahoo News. Whoever was chairing that House committee hearing reminded the unmasked of the requirement to wear masks. Boebert and Gaetz complied and were photographed; MTG did not.

Other sources tell me that Gaetz isn’t too bad on climate change issues. That is wise for any congressional living in a state where the natural high point is 345′ above sea level.

Having said that, Gaetz is still a world class jerk in other issues, including the one discussed in this thread.

      1. Nicely done, MartinMark.

Fortunately, the House as an institution is not likely to be scarred by the presence of 3 junior Representatives, no matter what their skills or attitudes may be.  The districts they come from are likely to continue voting for Republicans as the usual run of things — but these three are so special, they could well draw capable Republicans into a primary.

        1. I completely agree.  I wish Ms. Boebs a long and notable career of keeping the national spotlight on the things Republicans actually think and say and are willing to endorse with their votes.

    1. You get an “Incomplete” for that comment. You let out Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs from AZ; Mo Brooks from AL; “Gym” Jordan from OH; Chip Roy from TX; and maybe Louie Gohmert also from TX. Of course, “Gym” seemed to be into boys at the time.

Don’t know about Louie though. He’s been rather quiet lately. Maybe he’s actually trying to serve his constituents.

  3. Lala Bobo got skewered for posting this “joke” tweet about the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins.

She’s probably chortling about successfully “triggering the libs”.

    1. Word is Bobo is laughing it off telling people it's "justified mockery."

I mean, what kind of callous person would think that's okay to do to some person they don't even know?
