In Washington D.C. today, the recovery effort from the failed insurrection against the U.S. Capitol continues. But for Republican lawmakers who helped incite last week’s deadly violence like Colorado’s Reps. Lauren Boebert and Doug Lamborn, there’s no coming back from this.
Here’s an inescapable fact: the violent assault on the U.S. Capitol last Wednesday was a direct result of Boebert and Lamborn’s attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in swing states. Boebert went even farther, telling her hundreds of thousands of followers “Today is 1776” on the morning of the insurrection–and even Tweeting information about the location of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at the exact moment insurrectionists were storming the Capitol building.
Boebert and Lamborn’s actions are an affront not just to the voters of Colorado who elected Joe Biden president by over 13 points in November. Their willful undermining of confidence in American democracy with no factual basis has helped radicalize the Republican base, align them with terrorists and neo-Nazis, and set their party on a path toward embracing violence as a means of political gain.
We can’t let Boebert and Lamborn speak for Colorado at this crucial moment in history. If you haven’t already, sign our petition demanding the immediate resignation of Reps. Lauren Boebert and Doug Lamborn from Congress.
Thank you once again for your help demanding better from Colorado’s elected leaders. In just a matter of days, new leadership from the White House to the U.S. Senate and an historic progressive majority in Colorado will start the process of moving on from the Trump era. Without your help these past four years, we wouldn’t have made it.
