Jason Crow Gets Under Pete Hegseth's Skin For Audience Of One

Rep. Jason Crow questioning Pete Hegseth yesterday.

As the Aurora Sentinel reports, yesterday’s hearing of the House Armed Services Committee featuring Secretary of what only beta cucks call “Defense” Pete Hegseth was a brutal raking over the coals on a variety of subjects, not unlike that experienced by now-ex Attorney General Pam Bondi shortly before she was relieved of her own duties at the beginning of this month. But there’s a possibility that one particular line of seemingly-obscure questioning from Colorado’s Rep. Jason Crow could have done more damage to Hegseth than met the eye:

[Rep. Crow] questioned Hegseth about lawyer Tim Parlatore, focusing on a potential conflict of interest. Parlatore has a private law practice and is also a Pentagon advisor, Crow said at the hearing. Crow repeatedly asked whether Parlotore had international clients at the same time advising the Pentagon and Hegseth.

Hegseth didn’t answer…

Hegseth didn’t answer at first, but it became clear pretty quickly that Crow was on to something:

“Is it true that Mr. Parlatore was accused by President Trump and his lawyers of lying?” Crow said again.

Hegseth abruptly turned tense.

“What you are accused of is a cute line of questioning that’s going nowhere,” Hegseth said. He called Crow’s questions a political “stunt.

Crow continued.

“Secretary Hegseth, what I’m really concerned about is you purport to have unfaltering loyalty to President Trump, and yet you are continuously going behind his back,” Crow said…

Crow is asking Hegseth about the hiring of attorney Tim Parlatore, who once worked for Donald Trump personally on Trump’s legal defense in cases related to stashing classified documents at Mar-a-Lago and Trump’s plot to steal the 2020 presidential election. Parlatore quit Trump’s legal team citing disagreements with other members in 2023, after which he was disowned by Trump’s then-presidential campaign. With this in mind, Crow wanted to know why Parlatore was now working for Hegseth at the Pentagon as a senior advisor “behind the President’s back.”

Hegseth then became visibly angry.

“Oh you care a lot about President Trump, don’t you?” Hegseth said. “This is a cute, huge waste of your five minutes,” referring to the time limit on panel member’s questions.

Crow persisted.

“You are repeatedly going behind President Trump’s back, appointing people who he has accused of lying, who the White House has accused of lying,” Crow said. “You are not being honest with President Trump.” [Pols emphasis]

We’re not mind readers, but the reason this question got under Pete Hegseth’s skin could be as simple as who was watching the hearing–namely President Donald Trump, who famously spends his day glued to cable news watching for every mention of his name to reward and punish depending on the context. It’s widely believed that Trump watching Pam Bondi’s deconstruction in congressional hearings played a direct role in her ouster only days later.

Now maybe as Hegseth suggests, this inquiry was a waste of time. Or, maybe Crow was ripping the scab off a loyalty conflict among Trump’s perpetually scheming minions. If Hegseth does shortly follow Bondi into post-Trump oblivion, we’ll be watching for Parlatore’s name below the fold.
