The 2025 state legislative session has been underway for more than two weeks now, but Republicans still seem interested only in talking about stuff that happened in 2024.

We noted on opening day (Jan. 8) that six of the 22 Republicans in the House of Representatives voted against certifying the results of the 2024 election. State Reps. Scott “There is No” Bottoms; Ken “Dildo” DeGraaf; Stephanie Luck; Ron Weinberg; “Boxwine” Brandi Bradley; and Larry Suckla all opposed certifying the 2024 election results based on concerns — which have been investigated and dismissed — that someone, somewhere, might have been able to change a vote because of a partial leak of passwords.
Marshall Zelinger of 9News tried to make sense of the contradictions in a story that evening, asking House Minority Leader Rose Pugliese how her caucus could be both proud of winning three seats in 2024 but then object to the process that allowed them to win these seats. Pugliese’s response, needless to say, made little sense.
Fast forward to today, and Republicans are still going on and on about this conspiracy theory nonsense. Secretary of State Jena Griswold testified before the Joint State, Veterans, & Military Affairs Committee, where Republicans such as Rep. Bottoms were apoplectic about the fact that nobody is taking their contradictory nonsense seriously. “Boxwine” Brandy even posted a clip of Bottoms’s familiar inanity:

Bradley followed up that post by pounding her own chest over her incredible bravery in voting “NO” on certifying the election results…but taking her seat in the state legislature regardless:

Here’s the thing: If you truly believe that the election was fraudulent — then the only true protest would be to refuse to accept your own victory in said election and decline to be seated as an elected representative. Casting a completely meaningless “NO” vote, when you know damn well that everybody else will certify the election results, serves no practical purpose whatsoever.
It’s just another familiar page from the same old performative obstructionist playbook that is the reason Colorado Democrats hold a trifecta in state government.
If you want to be taken seriously…then try acting like serious people instead of patting yourselves on the back merely for figuring out which end of the pencil is the writing part.
