As of last night Miklosi won Arapahoe County.
And could have won the whole taco in a head to head.
Yes- there was a D- leaning unaffiliated candidate. (She wouldda caucused with Ds) Yes- her vote total was low but adequate to make a difference.
Joe Miklosi ran a very good, almost great campaign.
Shoudda, wouldda, couldda – don’t take away from the solid campaign effort.
His volunteers and supporters deserve kudos. And people idly speculating about celebrity D’s who could relocate to be available next time are missing the point. It wasn’t the candidate (it was voter reg and GOTV). If the D solution in Colorado to any competitive election is to recruit a bigger name, or get someone we already know -we’re never going to build and hold the numbers we want.
We have to campaign (organize, activate, etc) knowing that name recognition needs building.
I hope Joe doesn’t stop running – the 2014 race will start after January for a successful D. Make Coffman more visible in the district – he was a terrible candidate this go, and the more people see him, get to know him, the less they’ll like him.
The opposite is true for Joe- the more people get to know him, the more we like him.
Turnout was hi 50’s low 60’s – more better reg/gotv could do it – but that means starting earlier (fundraising and planning).
Go Joe! You can do it.
Joe Miklosi came to my uncle’s funeral on Friday and sat with us at the luncheon afterward. He was genuinely interested and stayed probably much longer than he should have, so close to an election.
I will definitely support any further efforts he makes to run for elected office.
More than 50% of Americans are on the dole in 1 shape or form. The party that promises more will always win.
The American experiment has reached a tipping point; it is broke now and will never be fixed. This is what happens to every democracy eventually.
I recommend all people of sound mind immediately stop working, stop creating jobs, stop providing extra for yourselves and claim as many government benefits you can. Default on all your debts also. Pull all your money out of the bank. Withdrawal all your investments/retirement accounts. Stick in under your mattress
Stop chasing carrots, stop whipping yourselves.
Put this sick horse out its misery asap.
You tried to raise this issue yesterday. I asked you what about the GE’s and Exxon-Mobils of the world. They pay nothing in taxes and we give them “doles.” ‘Scuse me, subsidies. They get far more in “dole” than all Americans combined do. As expected, you had no response to a very simple question.
I guarantee that someday you will be on “the dole.” You’ll take your Social Security and line up for Medicare. By then, of course, you’ll be saying that it’s only right because you paid taxes for these benefits for all those years.,
Just like Ayn Rand did.
is truly your point of view, then you need to become an expatriot as soon as possible. Get your sorry ass out of this country, because you are obviously not going to help. Go to Belize and subscribe to USA Today.
That way you can get the fuck out of our way and still be able to lament daily about how screwed up everything is.
You lost the election.
And like the whining, feet stomping, hold your breath till ya pass out temper tantrum throing redleg pinko you are, you’re reacting as you all do.
Now, go put on your jammies and when you come back I’ll read you a story.
Source me the “more than 50%” and do it now.
That’s not a request.
And why is it ok for your ass to be on the dole?
You are quoting O’reilly, you dolt.
I was just about to post a sarcastic reply to encourage you to run far and fast until I realized that if you replace “people” with “large financial institutions” your rant explains the financial sector that’s been fucking over our country.
Makes perfect sense now. Thanks Nock!
why don’t you go back to whatever fascist hell-hole you can find. I realize South Africa won’t do for you since they abandoned apartheid, but surely some warlord in Somalia could make use of your services as a minion. They hate America almost as much as you do.
always entertaining at 0636
Nock tries his shit-for-brains best, but he lacks that certain playful willful ignorance that made Libby amusingly ridiculous . . .
Now I know what it must have felt like to live in Crawford, TX, in February 2001. Do you think we should start putting out ads for a new village idiot, or just pray that The Lord will provide for our needs?
First item of new post-election “flexibility”: U.N. gun control
The Americans who think that Obama is giving control of our country to the U.N. remind me of the Christians who thought Harry Potter would turn their good, Jesus-loving kids into Satan loving occultists. They have absolutely no faith and no confidence in the institution they claim to love and admire. It makes me sad and sick at the same time.
Nine counties still counting ballots.
The state that radically cut early voting days (no more Sundays), hours, and places (courthouses and schools only.)
Voting officials are asking Rick Scott to increase early voting. You know, like the way it was, maybe, before the Pubs saw a way to reduce Democratics from voting.
However, a Republican state senator just on the radio saying that “we” think early voting is a right and entitlement and the legislature will not be looking at the matter.
Jeeez…even early voting is now an “entitlement.” Next thing you know, they’ll tell us clean air and water and safe air travel are entitlements.
to all those Katherine Harris abaci that the State purchased in 2000?
….were intended to have a paper trail. No electronic only machines, no more chads.
I can’t remember the event, but I think it was in 2004 that Sarasota County residents demanded recounts on many local offices and we then got new machines.
The problem, I’m going to guess, is poor planning on the part of some of the supervisors of elections. Ours is really good, I think.
It was really pathetic the first time around, and that was 12 years ago. They have had ample time to improve this fiasco. Can’t they hold a goddamned election ?
Florida is a really strange place, and I’m not referring to the climate or geography. I could make a list, but I’ll spare you.
Despite having about the lowest tax burden in America, the Pubs still rant about the need to reduce taxes in order to attract business. You mean the businesses that want uneducated employees and can’t ship their products cuz of potholes?
my Dad lives in Jupiter, and I know how strange Florida is, and the nutty irrationality. Trust me on that !
Ohio blew up and overcame a million stolen votes, Colorado came in, Virginia didn’t go, and the whole mess fell apart.
What would be interesting would be the list of redleg attourneys that cancelled hotel rooms and car rentals in the sunshine state when Colorado, Ohio and Iowa were called.
And withdrawn private aircraft flight plans of up the trough pinkos like Gillespie.
HBO can do “No recount needed” this time.

Looking at the margins of victory and at the electoral count, it looks like Colorado was again the tipping point state, as in 2008. Can anyone refute/confirm this?

ArapaGOP . . .
The last days of Romneyland
http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_…
So reported a dog walking friend at that time Wednesday. I left my signs up for a day to rub it in.
Maybe it was all a bad dream? Sure was for Adelson, Turdblossom, and millions of others.
I heard that Rmoney had only written one speech……Dumber than Eisenhower, who had a bad news and accepting full responsibility speech in case the invasion failed. “I like Ike” better with each passing year.
to the CEO . . .
Willard probably honestly had been led to believe that he had this thing in the bag. I’ve also read reputable MSM reports that Willard had his victory speech, but didn’t have a concession speech; that was the reason for the delay in, and the brevity of, the speech he did give — he had to figure out what to say, and hadn’t begun doing so until after Ohio had been called. I also just heard a report on CNN that the WillardWorld planned fireworks celebration over Boston Harbor Tuesday night had to be cancelled — at the last minute.
. . . ain’t livin’ in the real world a bitch?
Not the thrust of this very good article — a recommended read BTW — but amusing nonetheless:
How a Race in the Balance Went to Obama
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11…
Romney had the whole inauguration website, etl al, already set up ! Man, these people were really so far in the bunker…
….”Will blog for old white men for food.”
if Puerto Rico will be a state by ’16
On the 16th of this month every state is to have a plan that sets up a website, etc., the insurance exchanges that citizens can find their best deals.
A Scott henchman in the Health department said today, “There are deadlines and there are deadlines.”
Even if the bureaucracy had figured out what to do, it still takes Fifth Amendment bleater Rick Scott to sign off on it.
There are suggestions floating that certain non-profits might take over this role. Folks that are already trying to help, um, folks.
He’s put off any exchange planning because he figured Romney would win – and now he’s saying they still have time because the 16th “isn’t really the final date”.
Newsflash, Republican governors: as of the 16th, your states will be sporting the Federal exchange program.
Wisconsin to Florida.
