Thoma’s Edsall in the New York Times writes that President Obama’s attacks are intended to keep certain constituencies from voting.
Criticizing the experience Mitt Romney claims qualifies him for the presidency is not okay, yet requiring every voter to present a photo ID-which would disproportionately affect Democrats-is fine?
I recognize that there are shades of grey in the Romney’s alleged accomplishments, as well as criticisms levied against him. Nonetheless, it’s a bit of stretch (if not a double standard) to suggest that questioning and criticizing-fairly or not-your opponent is really an effort to keep certain constituencies from voting.

trying to hold republicans to a standard of honesty and fairness. Let me go over this again…
republicans are superior to Democrats and are therefore entitled to a different set of rules. These rules do not reflect any notion of equity or truthfulness. Never forget…IOKIYAR is in the constitution…uh..somewhere.
republicans are not required to contribute to society, other than to tithe to their church. They are allowed, however, to drastically understate their income when calculating that contribution. In all other cases…republicans should not have to share their hard earned dividends with…you know…”those” people.
The only “Golden Rule” to which republicans are expected to ascribe is the “buy low-sell high” rule.
The bottom line is… “It’s Mitts’ turn…don’t hassle him.
is just plain bullshit. It’s Luntz-worthy obfuscation.
It’s cynical and negative no doubt, but the author hasn’t even proven that the Obama campaign’s aim is to suppress turnout among poorly educated white males, when the alternative, that they are trying to brand Romney prior to his roll-out at the convention, is equally plausible.
Voter suppression is about preventing eligible people from voting, not making them choose not to vote.
