Harry gets leaderly. But, christ, who could ever have guessed he could go all the way to — “recommend”?!? Harry, you’re an election-year beasty! . . . finally!
[In my best Droopy Dog voice] “There, that should take the stiff out of those Yurtle-Boehners.”
but Obama tried that for his first 3 years and it appears the opposite is true with Republican bullies. The tougher he and the Dem leadership get the more success they have. The Obama approval rating trend shows this is also smarter politics. Strength is respected. More hard ass, less cowering, please. It’s working.
a swatter works best.
ever meet anyone who wants to catch more flies?
get them out of the way, so to speak, not for a fly circus or anything. 🙂
decaff
As of last year there were still like 200+ appointees being held up for petty political games. We’re missing judges, ambassadors, asst. Secretaries, and the likes because Grassley and Issa and the GOP in general, have another way to obstruct.
The GOP ploy to delay, impede, and cripple Obama’s admin is just more petty pathetic playground games that prove Congress doesn’t work and deserve their dismal lowest-ever approval rating.
Have no idea how many more are setting out there.
On the one hand we have congressional approval ratings at around 10% (http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-57373478-503544/congressional-approval-hits-another-all-time-low/), and on the other hand we don’t see the MSM holding the obtructionist/irrational/illogical/dishonest members of congress feet to the fire.
Can we return to deductive logic’s ability to find win-win solutions to the major problems of slow growing GDP? Can Congress tackle the difficult issues of resource scarcity, depressed housing markets, student loan default rates, increasing costs of higher education, national and personal debt?
So many problems, and so much bullshit.
I think he should recess appoint every one that has been waiting over 4 months. The quantity would make it very apparent to the voters that the republicans have been stonewalling for political gain.
being streamed on CNN.com.

Of course we all knew it, but did you see recently?
http://www.cnn.com/2012/02/17/…
It’s amazing what a non-existent shot at being VP will do to people. Is it just me, or is the referendum crap crap? The people did vote. I’m sure the governor remembers; it was the night with the balloons and liquor. There may have even been cake. Mmm, cake!
Here’s hoping the legislature pulls of the override. For the sake of equal rights anyway. An override has the odd benefit of being two things for Christie, an out and an in. Of course, so, potential, does a referendum. That’s gotta be dumb luck, right? No way is Christie that politically smart. (Impotent rage! and **Shakes fist**)
getting married
If you were a Dem you could run openly as who you are, get married, have a kid; think Jared Polis…
This isn’t going to help his ambition to run for congress as a repug, is it? Doesn’t it bother these closet cases that if their R buddies really knew them they’d despise them?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/…
Yes. That’s the best way to stay in the closet. Post pictures of your distinctive tattoo on the best-known gay male dating site in the country.
Here’s the Phoenix New Times piece, if anyone’s interested in going there directly.
I’m not comfortable with the involuntary outing of gay politicians in general, but in this case? Yeah. Threaten someone to the point he has to seek legal protection from you? That sacrifices the right to privacy.
he can’t complain about outing while posting on a famous male dating site and he can’t complain about anything while threatening to use his power to punish a former lover. Self loathing and a bad job of living a lie tend not to do a lot for one’s integrity. Guess there won’t be any movement ip the GOP political ladder for this moron.
May that ladder reach all the way down to the destination of each readers imagination.
We gotta keep the good ones. Westminsterites, don’t be surprised to find me at your door this afternoon!
I will invite you in and make you coffee!
Your efforts and dedication are so very much appreciated. May you be joined by legions of like minded souls.
Didn’t find you today it seems, but I sure love coffee, and Westminster is going to be my second home this year between Perlmutter and Tracy Kraft-Tharp.
I’m on the other (east) side of Sheridan in John Soper’s district. If you get over to this side, there’s a cup of coffee with your name on it!
apparently there’s a contest.
What? Lou Dobbs and old white conservative men are so confused and out of touch they don’t even know what IS offensive! DeeDee Myers set him straight.
Why is America going to back to 1950? Is the next thing coming from the GOP going to be fighting for segragation in schools? And all boy clubs for Executives at major corporations?
Part of this clip played this morning on Up with Chris Hayes. It’s an eerily prescient 1995 look at the 2010 Class of Republican members of Congress.
It only used footage that was recorded during WWII. It was very powerful seeing actual footage and not reenactments. It also made me realize just how completely fucking stupid and wrong it is to compare anyone’s current political stance with what the Nazis did in Europe.
The Neuremburg Trials by Ann and John Tusa, while simultaneously reading Auschwitz by Dr. Miklos Nyiszli (the Jewish Dr. who lived to tell a rarest of 1st hand accounts). Let me tell you, that’s an interesting perspective.
