Last Day To "Activate" Your Voter Registration

  •
  • by: Colorado Pols

If you’re registered to vote but still haven’t received a mail-in ballot for next Tuesday’s elections, it probably means you are an “inactive” status voter–perhaps you didn’t vote in the 2010 elections, or maybe there was a problem with correspondence to your address at some point.

Whatever the case may be, today is the last day you can “activate” your voter registration and receive a ballot by mail–visit GoVoteColorado.com, where Secretary of State Scott Gessler’s smiling mug will preside over the straightforward vote registration lookup and update functions. If all goes smoothly for you there, your county clerk will see your updated status in the morning and speedily get a ballot on the way to you. Get it right back to your county clerk, in person if necessary–all ballots must be in their offices by 7PM next Tuesday evening.

If you miss today’s deadline, you’re not out of luck–contact your county clerk’s office.

And presumably, this “inactive” voter debacle will get ironed out first thing next January.
