SATURDAY UPDATE: In the third round of voting, incumbent vice-chair Kristi Burton Brown defeats Scott Gessler in the race to be the next Colorado Republican Party chair. Colorado Sun:
Burton Brown beat out four other candidates for the job, including former Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler, communications consultant Jonathan Lockwood and past congressional candidates Rich Mancuso and Casper Stockham.
Candidates needed more than 50% of the vote to win. There were three rounds of voting, during which Lockwood, Mancuso and Stockham dropped out and threw their support behind Burton Brown.
“Kristi is going to bring us youth,” Mancuso said. “She is going to bring us new ideas.”

Tomorrow morning, the Colorado Republican Party Central Committee will convene virtually to select the next party chair to succeed outgoing Chairman Rep. Ken Buck and attempt from there to guide the party back from the abyss after devastating losses in the last two general elections. Five candidates including former Secretary of State Scott Gessler and incumbent vice-chair Kristi Burton Brown, as well as Jonathan Lockwood, Casper Stockham, and Rich Mancuso, are competing for the position.
As with all of our totally unscientific user polls meant purely for discussion purposes, we’re not interested in your personal preference: please indicate who you actually believe will win tomorrow’s election, and then tell us why in the comments below.
