Working Families stand with Romer!

  •
  • by: FrontRangeRiffRaff

Senator Chris Romer today got the endorsement of the SEIU who represent thousands of working families in Denver. Romer’s work for years in the Senate standing up for working families and fair wages is being seen clearly in a field of other candidates with no similar track record.

SEIU said:

“Chris Romer has a proven track record of standing with Denver’s working families to take on special interests like predatory lenders,” said Maria Vasquez, who works in healthcare and is a Denver resident and member of the SEIU Local 105 Executive Board.

“Chris also fought to give all students the right to pay in-state tuition to state universities. He does what’s right to stand up for working families and students, regardless of whether it’s popular.”

With so many companies trying to take advantage of Latino, minority and working families, Romer’s hard work for people is exactly what is needed in the mayors office. In fact, Romer was the only one who was willing to commit to the SEIU that he would make the current rule a full ordinance that says that if a company loses their contract with the city that the new company who gets the contract has to agree to keep employing any of the workers who would lose their jobs. This “retention” ordinance will mean more job security for thousands of working families that could otherwise lose their jobs.

Romer already has a double digit lead in the polls, twice the support of Latinos as Mejia and now has the public endorsement of thousands of working families in Denver.
