No surprise here, as this was the logical progression, but Rep. Ellen Roberts has made it official:
Rep. Ellen Roberts, R-Durango, plans to formally announce her campaign for the state Senate today in Cortez.
Roberts is slated to announce her Senate bid at noon today at Shiloh Steak House, 5 Veach St., Cortez. She is vying to replace term-limited Sen. Jim Isgar, a Hesperus Democrat, in the November 2010 general election.
The two-term legislator Roberts was first elected to the state House in 2006. She ran unopposed during the 2008 election.
Democrats will need a strong candidate to hold off Roberts for this seat, which should be one of the most hotly-contested races in 2010.
