Paula Sandoval not to seek re-election due to illness to husband (UPDATE- below the fold)

Sad news about Paul and Paula. As noted below, can’t link to the DP but a quick search will find the article.

Really, terrible news for the Sandovals, I wish them the best.

The election will still go on though, currently there are two other candidates filed; Ken Padilla and Jeffrey Schitter. Expect to see several others get into the fray, speculation below the fold.

Of the field that ran in last years special I would anticipate Susan Sheperd and Jerry Frangas to get in (unless they have jobs they don’t want to leave). Anyone else have thoughts on who could jump in? Results from the special below:

Terrible circumstances and I wish the Sandovals the best – Paul’s quote was incredibly strong sounding and I know we can all respect their request for privacy.
