A week and a day. I've discovered that removing Twitter from my life is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Going to maintain FB and keep it largely apolitical (if I can). I'm old enough to remember 1994 (I was still a Republican then) as Newt boasted "the permanent majority" and his "Contesct
foron America". Yeah, the family values guy who was cheating on wife #1 with wife #2 while spending hundreds of millions on legal teams to prosecute Bill for a blowhob. He's later chest on wife #2 with wife #3 and she'd eventually get to be our representative in Rome under Trump. You couldn't make this stuff up.What's different today is the 1,000+ American billionaires who are dumping money into the Trump marchine and a compromised SCOTUS.
Looking forward to Thanksgiving with the family and see if there's even a hint of remorse (highly unlikely).
In other Colorado news, if you're a movie buff and would like to grab some popcorn and watch the first movie to be produced in Colorado in over a decade check out 'Elevation', a movie I was involved in (EP). We premiered last Monday at the Denevr Film Fest (along with a private screening for Coach Prime and the CU team) and it released last Friday in theaters nationwide. It was made possible by the Colorado Film Tax Incentive, designed to draw the industry back to Colorado. If you go and have the option of buying your tickets on Fandango you can give the movie a "certified review" and it will post on Rotten Tomatoes. It's filmed in the Boulder / Gold Hill / Copper Mountain / Georgetown mines settings. It's written to have a sequel so we're hopeful we'll return for Part 2.
I am looking forward to seeing this film for two main reasons.
Our good friend Michael is an executive producer, and Morena Baccarin is in the film. The fact it is filmed in Colorado is the subject of this post.
Colorado needs a Tyler Perry.
I know there are some pretty well-heeled people who follow this blog. Projects like this one are a great place to invest your millions. We ( my Cat and I ) enjoy a number of films and series produced in Georgia. That state has an active support for the film and streaming industry and it has attracted notable private partners like Perry.
Is there a movie mogul in Colorado?
Appreciate the shout-out, Duke. We've managed to maintain an 80% on Rotten Tomaotes and several comments about the "scenery". So much beauty to capture in state. Kudos to the legislatie, Uber-advocates liRep Leslie Herod and Film Commissioner Donald Zuckerman, and the significant Colorado-based crew who made the film possible.
I'm not certain what would qualify as a "mogul."
One friend works for Milkhaus – and they've worked on some pretty cool films. And won a few awards.
Nice production house, but I am talking about billionaire money. Milkhaus, in their sales pitch, ends with a reference to "your" budget.
I am looking for that person(s) who can expand the budgets…like a Tyler Perry who has created a modern production facility in the Atlanta area.
Denver could use a similar facility, if there isn't one already.
That quote is great motivation for those impacted by the supporters of Amendment 80 lies to sue. Hold a press conference saying you are investigating the matter, retaining lawyers, advocating for criminal charges…
Hell say it's over the emotional stress and loss of consortium you'll be able to get discovery of all the election emails then toss them in the stew and stir the pot.
Good morning to all…..
As I posted last week, Rob Reiner, aka "pyro boy", is stll MIA. No word from him since last post election day when he emphatically stated Kamala Harris would be elected president. A search of the internet has turned up nothing. Has anybody any information on his whereabouts or at least where his pile of ashes would be? TIA if you have any info.
He’s currently living in syndication on several streaming services. Good luck with that.
Also, good luck with that obsessive dim-entia.
You’re welcome.
He gave us Spinal Tap. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2jEHyhBXe8&ab_channel=MinorThreat-Topic
I really don't care about Rob Reiner's whereabouts and I don't see why you should care either. Why do you care?
Imagine the liberal (lol) MSM meltdown we'd be witnessing now if Harris had won and announced Lawrence O'Donnell as the Secretary of Defense nominee.
Having been a writer for The West Wing, I'll wager that O'Donnell knows more about how government is supposed to work than the Fixed News guy The Yam chose.
"Litmus Tests Likely Explain Who the Fuck is Pete Hegseth" – Marcy at EmptyWheel
Marcy’s forgetting the biggest consideration — no pesky or inconvenient qualms against ordering military personnel, hardware, and tactics (e.g., spying and surveillance) against
American citizensthe terrorists within (fka political enemies and noncooperatives).I've been working on something similar to Matt Yglesias' manifesto:

Is that the idiot who wrote an entire book about how grand and glorious it would be to have a billion Americans?
lol
What's the book?
And what would be awful about having a billion Americans? We'll soon have essentially free energy (solar + green hydrogen) so we can provide a billion citizens with a very nice life.
There are other issues to having a billion Americans beyond just energy.
Let them eat kilowatts!
Well, solar plus batteries.
May a hundred Nevada's bloom.
If memory serves, its actually called "One Billion Americans."
As appealiing as "essentially free energy" sounds, that strikes me as more than a little preposterous. This is the U.S. We don't do free essentials here. If there isn't ongoing profit involved, it simply doesn't happen here.
As for the rest, we can't provide 330 million citizens with anything remotely resembling "a very nice life" now. The Techbro Gilded Age will need lots of de facto slaves, of course, but there's no reason to believe we can actually pull it off. We've got plenty of room, to be sure, but there's no reason to believe people in Ygllesia heaven will be any more excited to live in a Weaver family shack in northern Idaho than they are now.
And, of course, Americans waste more and generate more garbage than anyone else on the planet. But hey, as long as we got ours, screw everyone else. Right?
BTW, I like your Substack. Keep on writin'!
Per MIT: “Today, green hydrogen accounts for less than one percent of hydrogen production in the United States…about 95 percent of projects in the U.S. are “gray” hydrogen, which is produced from natural gas.”
Reply to all of you on this. First, someone back in 1800 would consider the present day population of New York City to be impossible. And they would not be able to imagine the wonderous life most in the city lead. More people in a nice environment is very possible.
Electricity so cheap it's essentially free is coming. At present compute power and disk storage is so cheap it's essentially free for individuals. And I have a friend at Microsoft on the storage team – they're working to reduce the cost of storage to 1/10 of the cost today.
And "free" electricity will lead to a ton of improvements for everyone. It's a major game changer. On the order of smart phones.
Matt. Gaetz. Attorney. General. ????
There are a whole HOST of odd choices apparently under consideration.
Some may even be so outlandish that the Senate would be willing to block confirmation.
Seeker Johnson is apparently worried about Trump taking people from the narrow Republican majority in the House.
Can you say “recess appointment,” boys and girls?
I knew you could.
Q. Have any of you seen any Authoritarians sneaking around here?
A. No, no, no sir, of course not. Nobody in here but just us patriot Make-America-Great-Again Republicans.
Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence?
I'm beginning to think chaos is the actual goal. That's exactly what Steve Bannon & Donald Trump TOLD us would happen: "It will be bloody".
Funny thing about chaos is that it can't be controlled. Some of the blood may come from within the administration.
Kakistocracy, is the proper term.
Nestor will be so proud.
