  1. For any of you involved in a state level campaign or a county party, and you need an app to manage volunteer events (better than Mobilize and free), I'm doing two demos of my app next week:

And please, if you know anyone that would find this useful, here or in other states, please let them know.

    thanks – dave

    1. Less than 4 weeks until we find out how Tina Peters will be spending her time.

I read that Colorado's Department of Corrections is rolling out a "secure tablet" program to allow inmates access to a broad range of content.  However, I don't see anything about maintaining a Truth Social or X presence (or having access to those sites).

      1. Inmates in Jeffco and Denver jails already have access to "secure tablets". My halfway house clients complain about how littke they could do with the tablets

in regard to Tina Peters' prison sentence:

It's likely that it will be similar to Steve Bannon's prison sentence; that is, probably will be served in a low or minimum security facility.

Nevertheless, Steve-O keeps trying to get out early. He has another fraud trial coming up ( for fleecing Republican donors who wanted to "Build the Wall".

but never fear, Steve. Bobert, Gates, and MTG will guest host your War Room podcast and Iā€™m sure it will be just lovely.

        1. Yeah, limited.  Dept of Corrections says

The department is in the process of rolling out the tablet program, which is facilitated by Securus.  The estimated date for full implementation is July 30, 2024. Tablets will be available to inmates at all facilities for recreational, educational, and communication purposes.  Information regarding Securus tablets may be found through the Securus Tablets website(opens in new window).

Don't know details on how the service is paid for — they aren't a part of the DoC or Securus site.  "Incarcerated individuals can then use money from their Securus Debit accounts to purchase new tablet subscriptions and other Securus services available at their facility." Presumably better than what was (e.g. phone call charges).  Not as simple, straightforward, or inexpensive as inmates would prefer.

            1. Securus has always gouged prisoners and their families. When a family member was jailed, I was spending $200 a month for a phone call budget through Securus. It was crazy.

People who have used the tablets while incarcerated call them " pacifiers". That is, they are used primarily for entertainment. There is some ability to use the tablets for video calls with family , mental health providers, or lawyers, often at $25 / half an hour.

I'm not advocating for prisoners to have unlimited access to the internet; many, after all, are criminals capable of fraud and exploitation, or re-victimizing former victims. But for those who have earned a level of trust by good behavior, and are, for example, enrolled in Adams State University's Prison Education Program, the tablets could be a useful tool for making progress towards re-integrating into society and being able to live independently on the outside.

That is, if  clients re-integrating into society and being able to live independently and not regress back into jail were actual goals of the criminal justice system.

              1. Spot on.  I won't use Securus with my incarcerated clients.  I like to preserve the attorney-client privilege, and I'm aware of numerous breaches in securus calls, followed by meaningless "sorry" apologies.

  3. Mike Coffman continues to bob & weave.  Denverite: Aurora won’t close more apartments allegedly affected by Venezuelan gangs (yet)

Last week, Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman urged the city to shut down the apartment buildings that have made national headlines over an alleged “Venezuelan gang takeover.” …

Aurora is working with the property owners on other options, local officials said. A spokesperson for Coffman said that closing the buildings is no longer the mayor’s goal….

The apparent change of plans comes as Coffman is reportedly negotiating with the landlords at CBZ Management. They’re working on a plan, according to a city spokesperson.

There's more detail about what is possible and consequences in the article.

  4. This morning provided an unusual occurance…Chris Christie made sense. When offering advice to Kamala Harris about the upcoming election, he recommended only two courses of action.

    1. Be charming.

2.. Be dismissive of Trumps' assholery. He hates that.

Johnathan Karl referred the viewers to the "pre-game show"…

    What a country!

  5. There's a Trump Dummy test.  Here's how you take it:

His company’s website also sells a variety of political merchandise at higher prices than his campaign charges for the same items. A “Make America Great Again” hat that sells for $55 on his company website costs $40 through the campaign. A 3×5 flag from the campaign costs $43, while the same size flag on the company’s site costs $86.

Trump cashes in during final weeks of his presidential campaign

Lining his pockets and taking away from his own campaign fundraising.  Guess this is a sign that he's already decided he's lost, so make hay while the sun shines…
