On KOA’s Colorado Weekend on Saturday morning, GOP congressional candidate Joe Coors told co-hosts Julie Hayden and Chuck Bonniwell that his fundraising was going well, beyond the money he’s given to himself, and, Coors said, he’s gotten more individual donations than Ed Perlmutter, his opponent.
That didn’t sound right to me, knowing that Perlmutter goes to all those grocery stores, and I hadn’t heard that Coors went to grocery stores at all.
I checked the Federal Election Commission website and found that Coors has 524 individual contributors versus 871 for Perlmutter.
So I don’t understand Coors’ response to this question by Bonniwell:
Bonniwell: I know you’ve got a few bucks on your own to put in, but how’s the fundraising going?
Coors: “We’re very pleased with the fundraising effort. Just launched the Joe Coors 2012 Club, which has gotten some very nice grassroots support. We have more donors, individual donors, than my competition does. And so we’re very pleased with that outreach.”
Hayden and Bonniwell should have Coors back on their show to explain what he meant, in light of the numbers I found.
And while they’ve got him, they should ask Coors if he can explain the general anger of the GOP toward the Colorado redistricting process, in view of his positive feelings toward it:
Coors: I think the redistricting was a very good thing to do, because it really consolidated population densities. If I benefited, or if Colorado District 7 benefited, it’s putting Aurora back where it really belongs, in Mike Coffman’s district, and making Jefferson County and Adams County more concentrated for CD 7.
Hayden and Bonniwell should find out from Coors if he’s taken any heat for backing the redistricting process from his fellow Republicans who were so upset by it last year.

I think every Colorado Polsie in Liberalland would be shouting it from the rooftops if this was correct. Jason, can you prove this claim that Coors had fewer individual donors??
If you follow the links Jason provided, you’ll see that Coors has 524 individual contributors to Perlmutter’s 871.
$818k total for individuals:
And Joe got $572k from individuals:
Any questions?
I want to see confirmation of this beyond a blog. If it’s true, the mainstream media will cover it. Until then, it wouldn’t be Jason Salzman’s first mistake.
ask Joe which ass he pulled his numbers out of?
LOL
If it is, did Coors have more individual donors in the last quarter, not all quarters?
I believe that Joe Coors is an honorable and truthful man. I simply don’t believe he would lie about this intentionally, and that makes me question Jason Salzman’s insistence that he is.
I do not believe you know what these words mean. The articles and the noun…yes, the adjectives…nah.
You are a great posterchild for your cause. Deny the facts even as they stare you in your face. Today’s Republican Party, ladies and gentlemen.
Im not seeing any response from Salzerman.
Ive spent time with Coors. He’s a delightful gentleman, honest and the kinda guy who probably has a work bench in his garage or at the office.
I’ve sported around with congressman PERLMUTTER too, decent man, honest, etc…. I think the backlash is that he’s followed Obama, Reid, Pelosi blindly to a fault.
IIRC, the Denver Post opposed Perlmutter last cycle although I don’t recall the specific details as to why.
Strategicly the Applewood neighborhood battle royal for the 113th Jefferson County Congressional seat is going to be a battle for the ages. A cage match.
Namely, “Jason, can you prove this claim that Coors had fewer individual donors??”
It was ALREADY in the diary. Harrydoby went the extra mile and copied and pasted from the link that “proves this claim that Coors had fewer individual donors.” As far as I can see, Jason has nothing to add to this.
I’m not willing to speculate why Coors made such a statement. A-BOT is trying to help by asking about “complete” numbers, but if he means, Is this including unreported donors so far, the problem there is that Coors would (or should) have no idea what Perlmutter’s unreported figures are, so he’d have nothing to compare against. Unless he somehow confused his own total of reported and not-yet-reported individual donors and was going against Perlmutter’s reported donor total by mistake.
But that of course would raise the question of how he increased his individual donor total by 67% (MINIMUM) in such a short time period.
No offense to our intellectually challenged fellow citizens, but the metaphor fits.
Just a guess here, but I’d bet many readers are offended by your “short bus” comment.
Why do you have such disdain for fellow Americans who are differently abled.
We all have a roll to play and clearly youve choosen to play the mean, bitter and ignorant elitist. I guess I shouldn’t have expected anymore from you as you follow blindly our President who when chatting about a bowling experience refered to his effort as ‘like Special Olympics’.
Suddenly, the aggrieved defender of the below average. Which, you know, take a lot of tax dollars to educate and provide social services.
I won’t dis you for using “roll” instead of ‘role.” Unlike Nook, you usually get it right.
Mean is in the eye of the beholder, Tad. Bitter, you bet. As I see what was a better and better nation/culture being reversed as I go into that dark night, yeah, bitter. Ignorant, I doubt it. Masters degree in a branch of philosophy, once upon a teacher but still very much a student of American history. I’ve noticed that when I point out something with historical factoids to you, you never respond.
I am not a huge Obama fan. He was my last choice as the Dems primaried four years ago. But he has done an amazing amount of good things, considering the Roadblocking Republicans in Congress.
So, good morning, sweet cheeks.
As Jason said, this is directly from the United States Of America Federal Election Commission Website!
ArapaGOP—> http://query.nictusa.com/cgi-b… CLICK HERE and your wish shall be granted.
(normally, I would have hidden the link for a tidier appearance, but I didn’t want you to think I would send you off to some NSFW site as a “lefty” joke)
I’ve even drilled down to the specific location for Colorado CD7 results from Jason’s initial link for you.
Why has smokin Joe already turned down two chances to present his ideas against Ed’s in debates?
Let’s be honest, he won’t be able to hold a candle to a three term representative when discussing the issues facing this country.
Perlmutter and Miklosi should get together debate two empty chairs.
Hayden is a “tv journalist” and one supposes how some kind of objectivity. Then she goes on a conservative talk show with her husband, who is rapidly partisan, and she puppy dogs everything he says. So, you should ask her – how does she reconcile the two jobs?
Print reporters, especially, used to shy away from opinion shows. But it’s accepted now, and I don’t mind it. We can look at their actual reporting work and see if it’s fair and accurate.
You report, exclusively, on right wing radio. When I say right wing radio, I mean those broadcast systems and/or stations that identify as conservative.
Then you report on them and find that they consistently fail to ask conservative politicians difficult questions and then you admonish them and say what they “should do.”
I don’t call that journalism, I call that a joke.
MSM types have been extraordinarily attacked for contributing to the democratic party. or even registered as a democrat…indeed, Mike Rosen, reporting on KOA…”fair and balanced” cites such acts to document media bias….
So here is a test, listen to hayden on the talk radio show……and see if she is objectively reporting that which is news that she and Chuckie are commenting on..
Republicans nowadays practice the “Big Lie” with impunity.
I have more individual donors than my competition does. LIE
Obama is eliminating welfare restrictions. LIE
There is no evidence of global warming. LIE
Obama wasn’t born in the United States. LIE
Obama is a Muslim. LIE
And why is Obama ashamed or denying his Moslem heritage?

Why Do People Say Muslim Now Instead of Moslem?

So, I think his Mom and Dad, at his birth, would say he was Muslim at the time.
Actually, some Muslims seem to think that we are all born Muslim, and fall away because we don’t have proper training.
So, your dispute is that BHO Sr. wasn’t really his father ? Check out BHO Jr’s books.
………….
OR do you mean that he is no longer a Muslim ?
That is a good point, but its not clear you get the distinction.
I have Muslims in my family. They are loved by our Creator God just as much as me.
Anyway, I have serious doubts if a Christian from Kansas and a non-practicing Muslim gave great thought to their child’s ethnic religion on his birthday.
Nor do I think that’s a distinction most Americans would make unless their parents were very religious. Like if two ethnic Jews are atheist and have a kid they don’t consider their kid any religion. Get over it.
I personally don’t care what religion Obama is, or could be, or may ethnically be, but I do care when people use any religion as a liability in public office. So it doesn’t matter; your comment just seems to have an error.
I’m also not clear on how somebody is Muslim by birth, but can stop being Muslim. By your theory, if you is, you is.
I actually put the data into Excel and broke it down, deleting individuals with multiple lines. Perlmutter has a few entries for joint fundraising and money that went through another campaign, so I didn’t count those. I doubt it would matter.
Perlmutter also had the benefit of raising money in the entire quarter of 2011, while Coors only started in December. I made that note in the totals.
Perlmutter:
4th QTR w/o Coors 209
Dec of 4th QTR 2011 41
1st QTR 2012 158
2nd QTR 2012 160
For a total of 568 individual
Coors:
Dec of 4th QTR 2011 2
1st QTR 2012 124
2nd QTR 2012 262
For a total of 388 individual
So Jason is right that Coors should have been pressed for more information. I suspect this half truth (splitting the difference) was an honest lack of information passed on by some jerk who got paid to do what I just did for free. But I don’t know Coors.
Moreover, I have sincere doubts that this laudable Coors campaign accomplishment matters. I also have a suspicion that if we continue to count multiple donors just once, the Coors list won’t grow much.
