Dan Caplis vs. Peter Boyles: Battle of the Clear Channel A-Holes

  • by: Half Glass Full

Is Dan or Peter the bigger a-hole? Hard to say. They both are so utterly consumed by their hatred of Barack Obama – not just disagreement with his policies, but outright frothing hatred for the man – that they consistently go off the deep end.

Cases in point: Peter Boyles seems to be the last man in America other than those two whores Jerome Corsi and Orly Taitz to be beating the “birther” gong. He devotes hours and hours of radio time to wacky conspiracy theories which totally ignore the facts.

Meanwhile, Dan Caplis willfully distorts the truth, arguing that the TSA scanners (which Caplis calls the “nude machines”) are part of some Obama attempt to exalt government over the individual: totally ignoring the fact that these scanners were procured and purchased during the BUSH administration and, until the recent media feeding frenzy, were viewed as a necessary measure to deal with new terrorist tactics.

Which is the bigger a-hole? I think it’s Caplis, because Boyles, God help him, is simply a nutcase about certain things: Tancredo, birthers… He’s like your harmless, slightly annoying old grand-dad if he had about $20K to spend on plastic surgery.

Caplis, on the other hand, is sleaze personified: quiet, sanctimonious pronouncements that “certainly” everyone must agree with him that Barack Obama is out to destroy our individual freedoms. However, Caplis would instantly be out to crucify Obama had he chosen NOT to install the scanning machines, and had some terrorist managed to sneak a weapon or explosive on board a plane as a result.

Caplis knows full well that these machines were procured during the BUSH administration, but he purposely chooses to distort the facts.

So congratulations, Dan Caplis: Clear Channel A-Hole Number One!

  1. First, they are on in drive time.  Second, a lie repeated often enough begins to convince people that it is the truth. Third, they systematically undermine the office of the President of the United States.

The one difference:  I think boyles is in control of his message, he reminds me of the old colonel in Beetle Bailey asking each day “Has the Pentagon called?”  Boyles wants to be on Fox nationally.  Face lift, eyes lifted, hair dyed, he is really for his close up and nobody has called….he keeps plugging the same lines hoping for that last chance.

Caplis, on the other hand, I think really hates the President and that is something I can not even listen to anymore.

  2. In the late 90s, he talked about how his parents were Democrats and seemed to have a moderate Democratic message.  I didn’t listen to him much, but I don’t recall hearing the right-wing, nutcase crap.  I think Caplis is truly evil, so he is Clear Channel A-Hole Number One.  Just his voice is enough to make me change the station, which I rarely turn to.

  3. I think Silverman is the worst of the bunch.  He presents himself as the “moderate voice of reason” sitting alongside the right-wing nut Caplis…but in reality he is just as reactionary as Caplis is.

At least Caplis and Boyles are honest about who they are.  I can respect that.  I’d rather face an honest enemy than a lying “friend”.

    1. Not to mention the sound of Silverman’s voice is like nails on a chalkboard. It makes my ears hurt. I have to flip through channels quickly to avoid it.

And yet, I find liberal talk radio just as irritating, sometimes. Sirota is usually reliable in getting his facts straight, but his whining… well, enough said. His extreme left criticisms of Dems only empowers the Republicans and libertarians in the long run. Mario doesn’t always have his facts straight, although his staff is very entertaining, in a juvenile kind of way. I could listen to Thom Hartman all day long. I wish we had him here in Denver.

Still, at least we have access to moderate and left-leaning talk radio. Some cities only have Limbaugh.

      1. Sirota is too whiney to listen to many days, and I don’t care much for his extreme left criticisms of Dems.  To me, he’s like a left-wing Glenn Beck, more interested in his brand than anything else including Colorado. John Turk is an improvement. Mario and his group are a little too juvenile for my taste.  Thom Hartmann could replace both of them.

  4. Just sayin’.

But yeah, that Obama is a freedom killer, constantly stuffing policy down the throats of red blooded Americans, etc., is getting old.  And fast.  I keep asking for specifics, but they never come.  Except for OBAMACARE (SCARY!!!), again ignoring that a majority of Colorado voters apparently support at least enough of it to not actually vote against it.

Yet somehow it’s believed.  So even though I go out of my way to avoid all talk radio (jazz in the AM, swing in the PM if I don’t have an iPod handy), I have to go with Caplis.  If you spout crazy, you should have the common decency to do it crazily.
