Politicians of the Same Stripe

After the RGA ran ads comparing Bill Ritter and John Hickenlooper as “politicians of the same stripe,” Hickenlooper has taken up this mantle of the zebra.

The most noticeable characteristic of a zebra is its black and white stripes, a natural defense mechanism meant to cause disorientation and confusion. Hickenlooper is a master at just that. He uses his own stripes to try and confuse the people of Colorado from his true positions on the issues, and distract them from his record of raising taxes and killing jobs. The striped Hickenlooper says don’t look at my immigration policy or all the business-killing taxes us zebras put in place, instead look at my funny zebra suit and see that I’m a victim of “nasty” attack ads. But with Coloradans losing more than 100,000 jobs last year, nobody’s laughing. But that’s okay if the people of Colorado don’t laugh, because Hickenlooper will still have his friends to back him up. Zebras are social animals, and maintain strong ties with members of their heard over long periods of time.  Just like the zebra, John Hickenlooper sticks close to Bill Ritter and other Democrats. They are joined at the hip and support the same job killing policies. Hickenlooper is calling himself a “pro-business moderate” Democrat, just like our Governor Ritter. Yet, Ritter signed into law tax increase after tax increase, driving businesses out of Colorado. What did Hickenlooper do? He sat back and watched as the tax increases drove jobs out of state, not wanting to interfere with a member of his heard. But now by telling the Denver Daily News today that he would make it a priority to eliminate Ritter’s tax increases, he’s flashing his stripes and trying to distract the voters from his true “tax and spend” identity. These two zebras have a bond that obviously won’t be broken. And just like the RGA said–they are politicians of the same stripe.
