While the leaderless Colorado Republican Party struggles for a raison d’être after the firing of their chairperson Brita Horn, the woman considered by a disturbing number of MAGA faithful to be a martyr for the cause of not accepting elections Republicans don’t win, convicted felon ex-Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters, has sidelined her fake “remorse” to announce a full-throated endorsement from prison of fellow election conspiracy theorist, “America’s Hangman” Joe Oltmann, to be the next state party chairman:
We need a strong businessman, not a politician, at the helm of the Colorado GOP. That’s why I am endorsing Joe Oltmann as Colorado GOP chair.
For years, the CO GOP has been impotent on the issues that are important to Colorado Republicans.
We need a fighter. Someone that will represent us with the national GOP and make Colorado voters’ voice heard.
Our conservative values, our integrity, and the interest of the people of Colorado have been pushed aside for too long.
We need someone who can solve problems. Joe Oltmann will do that for the CO GOP.
Peters’ endorsement of Oltmann carries more weight among Colorado GOP central committee members than anyone in the reality-based community would prefer to admit. And it’s worth noting that Oltmann has long been associated with high-level state party officials like Kristi Burton Brown, dating back to Oltmann’s FEC United militia days. Detractors include former Colorado GOP chairman Dick “Actually My Name” Wadhams, who has spent the last several years lamenting the state party’s decline into micro-minority irrelevance and bald-faced corruption, while gamely pushing what they used to call “17th Street Republicans” before COVID emptied out downtown Denver–candidates who lose by slightly smaller margins than the extremist crackpots like Dave Williams, Ron Hanks, and Janak Joshi backed by the state party. But perhaps not as embarrassing and/or overtly threatening to major donors.
As you can imagine, Dick Wadhams is quite alarmed about “America’s Hangman” becoming the next chairman of the Colorado GOP, writing Monday in a column for the Colorado Springs Gazette’s political blog:
The 500-member Colorado Republican State Central Committee will soon meet to elect a new state chair to replace Horn. One of the leading candidates is stolen election conspiracist Joe Oltmann who claims Jewish elected officials such as Polis, Bennet, Weiser, Griswold, state Sen. Michael Weisman and Mesa County District Attorney Dan Rubenstein are members of the “Synagogue of Satan” and should be tried before military tribunals and hanged.
How can a political party be taken seriously if it elects an anti-semitic, conspiracy obsessed chair who supports public hangings?
It looks like we’re about to find out. You thought Dave Williams had killed the Colorado GOP, and that Brita Horn had scattered the remains.
But if he gets the job, Joe Oltmann will take the Colorado Republican Party’s folly to a whole new level.
