Here Comes Trump's Revenge Against Rep. Jason Crow

Trump's political cronies at the Justice Department are trying to threaten and intimidate us.

Well, he's picked a fight with the wrong people.

I will always uphold my oath to the Constitution.

In November of last year, a group of Democratic lawmakers with military and intelligence service experience filmed a brief video in which they reminded members of the U.S. military of their obligation under both domestic and international laws to refuse to carry out illegal orders. The context of this warning quickly revealed itself as serious questions arose about military strikes against alleged drug smuggling vessels that may well have violated the laws of war. Nonetheless, President Donald Trump reacted furiously to the release of the video, first calling for the execution of the lawmakers involved and then settling into less specific but still menacing threats of prosecution. A few weeks later, the Department of Defense announced they were taking action against Sen. Mark Kelly over the video, singling Kelly out due to his service retirement status that left him vulnerable to retaliation.

As CBS News’ Melissa Quinn reports, former Fox News celebrity and Trump ally Jeanine Pirro is picking up the persecution where the DoD left off in her capacity as U.S. Attorney for D.C., requesting interviews with the other lawmakers depicted in the video including Colorado’s Rep. Jason Crow:

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, led by Jeanine Pirro, has requested to interview Crow about the video, which was released in November. Crow appeared in the video alongside five other lawmakers, who all have experience serving in the military or intelligence community.

“Donald Trump called for my arrest, prosecution, and execution — all because I said something he didn’t like. Now he’s pressuring his political appointees to harass me for daring to speak up and hold him accountable,” Crow said in a statement. “I won’t be intimidated and will keep fighting to uphold my oath to the Constitution and defend our country.”

Crow, a former Army Ranger, told reporters on Capitol Hill that the Trump administration is weaponizing the Justice Department “to try to silence their political opponents and suppress dissent.”

It’s unclear as of this writing whether or not these interviews will amount to anything more than the pointless harassment Rep. Crow calls them out as. The retirement status that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth exploited to jerk Sen. Mark Kelly around isn’t a factor in Crow’s case, and as a private citizen and member of Congress there’s absolutely nothing we can see here that could be a legal liability for him. As we know from the failed attempts to prosecute Trump enemies like James Comey and Letitia James, it appears to be Trump personally clamoring for these acts of legal retaliation, the basis for which his loyal Justice Department then labors against all good counsel to manufacture to satisfy Trump’s demands.

To say this is not how criminal justice is supposed to work could be the great understatement of 2026. But here we are.
