Eileen Laubacher Posts Bonkers Fundraising Numbers in CO-04

  •
  • by: Colorado Pols

Retired Rear Admiral Eileen Laubacher notched a massive fundraising haul in CO-04, raising nearly $2.5 million and finishing Q3 with about $2 million in the bank.

According to a press release, Laubacher has now raised $4.4 million from more than 10,000 Coloradans, with an average donation of $24 dollars. We can’t definitively say that a $2.5 million quarter is a record in CO-04, but we’d be very surprised if it is not at the top of that all-time list.

Laubacher is one of several Democrats running in the fourth congressional district, where recent transplant Lauren Boebert was first elected in 2024 by a 12-point margin over Democrat Trisha Calvarese. The Republican lean in CO-04 is the strongest of any of Colorado’s eight congressional districts, giving the GOP about a 28-point natural advantage. This means it is a long shot for any Democrat to win in CO-04, but Boebert consistently underperforms relative to the voter makeup of her district in election after election.

In the bigger picture, Laubacher’s fundraising numbers — along with record fundraising from Democrat Jessica Killin in CO-05 — demonstrates that there is a wave of enthusiasm for “anybody but a Republican” in Colorado. Democrats will need to keep their focus on taking back CO-08 from Rep. Gabe Evans (R-Ft. Lupton), but this rising tide may lift many blue boats next November.
