Denver editorial writer Chuck Plunkett is off to his next job as a “political watchdog reporter” for the state’s largest newspaper.

Asked how expansive his new beat is, Plunkett told State Bill Colorado, “It’s Colorado-wide. Anywhere there’s corruption or misuse of taxpayer money, we’re open to digging into that.”
The number of legislative reporters assigned by Denver’s major dailies to the Capitol beat is now two, down from five in 2009.
That mirrors a trend statewide as news orgs have transitioned reporters to other assignments typically closer to home.
