Cheap Seats For Barack/Bennet Rally

  •
  • by: Colorado Pols

The Denver Post’s Lynn Bartels reports the details on the upcoming rally with President Barack Obama on behalf of Senator Michael Bennet–the main event is Feburary 18th at the Fillmore (capacity 3,700, was the Pepsi Center booked or something?), cost of general admission a mere $25–two more higher-end events also scheduled. That’s going to make for a pile of small individual donors to report next quarter, isn’t it? And here’s another interesting twist:

“In order to maximize everyone’s capacity to write/raise for this event, we have formed a joint committee with Bennet for Colorado, the Colorado Democratic Party-Coordinated Campaign, and the DSCC, called Colorado Victory 2010,” according to the e-mail.

“An individual who has not contributed anything to any of these entities to date, could in theory give up to $45,200 to Colorado Victory 2010. Individuals who have maxed to Michael may write to the committee and have the contribution count toward an entity that will help Michael.”

There’s been some talk lately, as you’re probably aware, about the ongoing primary in the U.S. Senate race creating obstacles to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) fully deploying resources for the “coordinated campaign” in Colorado–an operation that provides campaign support up and down the ticket, in many cases providing irreplaceable benefits both direct and indirect to less-advantaged campaigns.

Maybe this Bennet/DSCC/coordinated campaign event starring President Obama, combined with opponent Andrew Romanoff’s latest subpar numbers, will break that logjam by default? We know a lot of Democratic Party candidates and staffers who hope so, even if they’d rather not admit it.
