Guy Cecil Heading to DSCC

  • by: Colorado Pols

We forgot to post this earlier…

Senator Michael Bennet’s Chief of Staff, Guy Cecil, is leaving Bennet’s office to become Executive Director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) for the 2012 cycle. No word yet on Cecil’s replacement in Bennet’s office.

    1. Why, just the other day, WickedLeeks released a transcript of one of their power conversations.

      [Ring, ring]

      Bennet here.

      Mike? Phil.

Oh, good morning sir. What can I do for you?

Well, there are a couple of matters I’d like to see in the next bill you bring to the floor. For one…

Sir? May I put you on hold just one sec.? It’s the White House. Second time this year. He just won’t let me alone… [Silence] Back. I put Barry on hold. Now, what do you want in the Widows and Orphans Cost Reduction Act of 2011? Besides an extension of the over-$10 billion tax cuts, I mean, which goes without saying?

        1. O Relevance, where hath Thou gone?

          Fleeting goddess of rational thought.

Hiding in the shadow of those THEY Bought!

Making way for those who fawn!

Smooches now and always, Mikey, from those who merely lie and wait, dreaming, dreaming, dreaming, that someday, some night, the phone will ring and it will be……

            1. MUST everything be spelled out in some sort of crude language to be understood here? C’mon, Ray, I think you’re a smart guy even if I mostly disagree with you.

  1. I’d say he’s a great guy, but, well, you know…

(He really is by the way!)

I’m very curious to know who gets his post. Adam Dunstone is working for Chris Romer’s campaign. Sergio Gonzales is a name I’d watch. Jennie Peek-Dunstone is no longer working for the Dems, so she could move into a local vacancy created by someone else moving up. Too fun — can’t wait to see who gets the nod. Michael’s got an amazing staff.

    1. Those are great folks, but U.S. Senate CoS types are usually DC hires, not local staff. My bet would be on an experienced Chief of Staff coming from the office of a departing D Senator (like Lincoln, Bayh or Feingold).

  2. I don’t think that Mr. Anshutz has the pull that you ascribe to him. That said, having a billion dollars makes people have easier access than not.

The President and Michael like each other. That’s not rocket science, either.
