Holtzman vs. Beauprez

  • by: Colorado Pols

The Rocky Mountain News took an in-depth look at the Republican candidates for governor on Saturday in an effort to separate fact from fiction.

As the campaigns gear up for the Aug. 8 primary, accusations are flying – or, in some cases, being whispered – about each man’s record and character. Both camps have done their opposition research…

…Holtzman gave a preview of what was to come during last year’s Referendum C campaign when he depicted Beauprez as a flip-flopper on the issues, calling him “Both Ways Bob.” Beauprez’s camp, meanwhile, is quietly pointing out that Holtzman was once the subject of a congressional inquiry.

The piece is a good primer on?the real story behind the accusations and rumors, but curiously they left out the?issue of Rep. Bob Beauprez’s college degree.?Overall, the fact-checking comes up worse for Beauprez than it does for Marc Holtzman, though neither escape unscathed.

  1. I do hope that Both Way Bob and Who Me Holtzman rip eachother limb from limb.  I love cheking in here.  Go GOP partisans!!!  Get bloody.  Bob is such a dwebbledork and Holtzman, well he’s a joke.  The Colorado GOP is in such a state.

It’s always good to hear such deep and insightful analysis from the liberals.

    LOL

What are you – a script writer for Jay Marvin?

As for the Rocky’s “in-depth” analysis, I’d be careful about anything authored by Sprengelmeyer.  He’s the chap who recently used the term “D-Denver” when describing Senator Ken Salazar.

  3. Jesus, BB comes out smelling bad and looking pretty unethical, no way around it. The bank story, the golf course (Jesus, don’t even try to explain that one away–I live near a golf course and courses are designed to ensure golf balls are hit AWAY from your home, not near it.)

Using Sprengelmeyer as an excuse would possibly hold merit if this article hadn’t been authored by four people instead of one.

I don’t care so much about the flight suit or medical deferment–heard that one before, many, many times. Both stories have a faint whiff of desperation to them but the other two stories? Holtzman would be wise to just keep trotting them out everywhere he goes because being an unethical sleazebag is way more captivating than flip flopping on a vote or playing “Maverick” for a day.
