Green Party Says Someone is Misrepresenting Them

  • by: Colorado Pols

We’re happy to post important notices from time to time here on Colorado Pols, and this counts as one of them. Please click below to read a letter from Rick VanWie of the Green Party about a potential scam using the Green Party’s name.

Some registered Greens in Denver, Adams, Jefferson and Arapahoe Counties have received in the mail a flyer titled “Green Party Members Call to Action”. It is printed on green paper, and the text makes an appeal to registered Greens to run for office and to help find a candidate for the 2006 Governor’s race.  The flyer mentions the upcoming elections, as well as our upcoming state convention and the state party web site www.greens.org/colorado.  It also lists an e-mail address that starts with greencolorado2006.

Although it may look like this is from the Green Party of Colorado, it is not an official Green Party mailing. The e-mail starting with greencolorado2006 is not an official e-mail address of the Green Party of Colorado, its elected officers, any of its committees or county chapters.

Most importantly, the e-mail address on the flyer does not belong to anyone authorized to raise funds for the Green Party.  We are requesting that if anyone is solicited for funds or is in any way asked for personal and/or financial information (i.e. credit card, bank account number) through correspondence with that e-mail address that they DO NOT give any information and to please contact the following Green Party of Colorado officers immediately:

Green Party of Colorado Co-Chairs: Charlie Green: oldbogus@ris.net or Tom Kelly: tkelly733@earthlink.net

Green Party of Colorado Secretary: Tanya Ishikawa: buffalotanya@igc.org

Green Party of Colorado Treasurer: Dan Sage daniel.sage@comcast.net

To date, we have no idea if anyone has attempted to solicit donations using that e-mail address. We have no idea who is behind the mailing, as the person or people behind it have not identified themselves.  Several e-mails have been sent to the greencolorado2006 e-mail address and there has been no response.

Thanks for your consideration.

Peace, Love and Understanding,

Rick VanWie
Green Party Candidate for
Colorado Secretary of State

  1. Gee . . .

Who could possibly be sending these out?  There is NO WAY it’s a bunch of Rightwingers hoping to steal some votes away from the Dems.

They don’t play dirty like that.

    P.S  Note the dripping sarcasm.
