Colorado Pols is Under Attack

  • by: Colorado Pols

A quick note to our users apologizing for the downtime you may have experienced today. Our hosting providers have confirmed that our site is under what is commonly known as a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack–meaning that, for whatever reason, unknown persons have chosen to direct a massive number of standard HTTP requests to our webserver from individual computers all over the world for the express purpose of taking us offline.

Please be patient while we, or more appropriately the people who understand how this stuff works in detail, deploy countermeasures to halt the attack on our poor little dedicated server. Be assured that we will take whatever action is necessary to continue providing the state of Colorado with timely and accurate political commentary and breaking news.

  1. Nice to see I can simply connect.

I'm betting that August has got to be a record for unique visitors to your site. I think you should do a bit of bragging about your new-found popularity.

  2. Pols I have an issue with this announcement.

I've gone over this post a few times and I cannot find any baseless accusations against candidates you don't like or political parties you disagree with. Maybe you could squeeze in an insinuation that supporters of a cause you disagree with were behind the attack.

FFS, this is a political blog! Where's the blame?! Where's the outrage?! This is the perfect opportunity to incite hatred and claim moral superiority over your political opponents and you're ruining this opportunity by posting a reasonable reaction!

  3. Well that's a relief. Coincidentally we've had a couple of problems apparently due  to compatibility issues with stuff that downloads automatically. Had to uninstall one anti-virus and install another (major pain) and then I got that denial message but only for this site. Figured it was you, not me but not entirely sure. We were running sweeps late into the night just to be sure we had no unresolved problems.  Didn't. Just now tried again and am relieved it's resolved.heart
