Lundberg Sworn-In Today

  • by: Colorado Pols

Republican Kevin Lundberg was sworn-in today as the replacement for Senator Steve Johnson (SD-15), who was elected Larimer County Commissioner in November.

As we’ve noted here repeatedly, Lundberg is a disaster waiting to happen every time he opens his mouth (or issues a strange press release). Democrats should be more than pleased that he now has a bigger stage to dance around on. It’s fitting that he will be the class clown now that Doug Bruce is gone, since Lundberg was the only person who didn’t think it was wrong to go around kicking photographers in the nuts.

  1. Doug Bruce lost re-election and the GOP needs someone who’s gone totally off the deep end to play to their base in the legislature.

After all, the important thing for the GOP is not to be in the majority, it’s to be ideologically pure.

  2. the “liberal media,” including the alleged victim of the kick, didn’t provide an image of evidence that a kick had been actually been delivered. [No gaping wound, identiable footprint, scuffmark, etc.]  However, Mr. Bruce did not deny the kick.  Instead, he excused it if I recall correctly.  The fact of the kick was never in question.

The funniest part of the whole story (before a worried Republican leadership responded with meetings, etc.) was the timing of Mr. Bruce’s assault.  The offending kick was delivered during the morning invocation / prayer.

      1. According to my sources, who were right there, it was a kick and hard enough to knock the guy over. One person told me he thought Bruce intended to inflict physical injury.

        1. A) He was kicked in the leg (near the knee to be specific)

          B) it was enough force to knock the photog over. He has been in a “hunched down” position taking pictures from the a low angle up at people.

I was there at the time and actually saw the photog fall over, but could not see Bruce because I was directly above him in the gallery. I didn’t know about the kicking incident until afterwards.
