State Senate GOP: Colorado Pols Has "No Credibility"

  • by: Colorado Pols

We posted a few examples yesterday of social media responses from Colorado Republican state senators, as well as the official account of the Colorado Senate Republican press office, both blaming President Barack Obama for last weekend’s terrorist attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, as well as at least one post disparaging LGBT Americans themselves in the hours after the attack. The latter was posted by Sen. Randy Baumgardner:

Baumgardner facebook

Baumgardner’s Democratic opponent in Senate District 8 this year, Emily Tracy, reacted angrily to our blog about Baumgardner’s anti-gay post-Orlando Facebooking:

To which the Senate GOP responded with an attack…on us?

So folks, we can take the heat. But can we ask in all seriousness how our writing about Baumgardner’s social media content “distorts, deceives, or demeans” anyone? If anything, we would say those terms all apply to…well, to Baumgardner’s Facebook post, wouldn’t they? Not to our calling attention to it. Right?

We get that this response from the official Colorado Senate GOP mouthpiece is more of a knee-jerk insult than a thoughtful comeback. But given the very clearly “demeaning” material we called out in our post yesterday, to which we have yet to see any substantive response, this all seems like especially nonsensical bile.

And it surer than hell doesn’t make the one-seat Senate GOP majority look good.

    1. Maybe why he hasn't shown up here yet to say… grasping at straws! So disgusting I might never post here again! No fairsies!  Every GOP candidate in a landslide!

  1. Speaking of credibility, this is rich…(a village somewhere is short an idiot).  The depths these know-nothings will go to in an attempt to be relevant in a news cycle.

Palin: Obama 'is a special kind of stupid'

“Forget your asinine gun control, do your job and engage in Islamic terrorist control. Yes, it's a special kind of stupid to demand we explain ourselves. But if you really want them, get ready for our explanations,” Palin wrote in her post, which included a grayscale photo of a woman holding a gun with one arm and her baby in the other.

  2. You have little credibility because you do stupid personal crap like posting pictures of non-officials picking their nose to embarrass them just because they are conservative.

    1. In all fairness, Elliot, it wasn't just because  Michelle Lyng of Novitas was conservative. It was also because she lied and overcharged the school district to try to propagandize voters to fight the recall elections. Lisa Pinto needed help from Michelle Lyng for Novitas to run even basic communications for Jeffco Schools, although Lisa Pinto's job title was Communications Director.

The nose-picking pic was a bit out of line.  I wouldn't think it would be cool to ambush someone sitting on the john, or something else embarrassing. But it wasn't just because Lyng was conservative. Jeffco is Colorado's second largest school district, and the Novitas contract could have bought a lot of paraprofessional salaries, class sets of books, tablets, etc.

    2. A rare good point you make there, Elliot. Nose picking photos are a bit much, but in general, it is hard to deny the consistency of Pols editorial  POV. I don't think the occasional descent in to adolescence is a deal breaker, …I mean, you are a Republican aren't you? Or am I confusing you with someone else? Libertarian? Mongrel? What?

    3. Umm…we are finding out that most if not all republican supporters are in all reality…"Booger eatin' Morons" as Proven in the National News and locally…eatin' buggers is a good source of salt in the diet…

  3. 1. The request is simply for labeling for GMO foods so that consumers can make educated choices as to what they eat.

    2. It's odd that libertarian Republicans like Randy Baumgardner, who supposedly believe so strongly in liberty and individual rights, do an about-face when it comes to people seeking the pursuit of happiness by trying to address gender dysphoria.

    3. It's interesting that Baumgardner would apparently not even allow persons who have undergone complete gender reassignment surgery to change their sex on their official documents: in Baumgardner's world, a person with breasts, a vagina, and no penis or testicles would still have to use the women's restroom, and a person with a full-on beard, no breasts, and a penis would still have to use the men's restroom.

It must be confusing to be Randy Baumgardner.
