Hurry! Special Limited Edition Obama Holiday Fleece!

  • by: Jeff Bridges

( – promoted by Colorado Pols)

I admit, when I got Obama’s email asking for a $25 donation in exchange for a “limited edition t-shirt,” I bought it. I even bought the “Vote Nov. 4th” shirt, where the Obama logo cutely replaces the “o” in Nov. And yeah, I almost bought the commemorative election day victory shirt, but I figured the guy already won – does he really need any more of my money?

But when I got an email from the first campaign in American history to potentially break the $1 billion mark offering me a “Limited Edition Holiday Fleece,” well, I’ve just got to wonder – when will the madness end?

First of all, nothing about this fleece says “holiday.” It’s a fleece with a logo and the word Obama on it. Unless the campaign has started taking this whole “chosen one” thing seriously, last I checked none of the winter holidays even have an o in them. It’s just a fleece, guys.

Secondly, really? I mean seriously – really? A fleece? Because when I think about the President of the United States, what I really want is a jacket with his campaign’s logo on it to remind me of… higher heating oil costs? Global warming? The fact I paid fifty bucks for something I could have picked up at Old Navy for $9?

We’ve got a whole lot of problems to solve, so please stop trying to sell me junk with your logo and get on with running the country.

Although that blue one does look really comfortable…

  1. Hell, all I got was the solicitation to buy an Obama commemorative coffee mug for $15.  I’m feeling kinda like Jeff, although I must have been at a different contribution level.  I would shell out for a commemorative box of Dick Wadhams/Bob Shaefer (Sour) Grape Nuts.

  2. CHICAGO-In a devastating blow to millions of unsuspecting Americans, newly elected president and international con man Barack Obama fled the country Wednesday with nearly $85 million in campaign funds.

According to FBI investigators, Obama’s sudden disappearance was discovered at 6:15 p.m. when the former Illinois senator failed to arrive at a gala event in Lincoln Square, prompting several aides to rush back to his campaign headquarters. At 6:23 p.m., flight logs at O’Hare International Airport confirmed that two passengers, a male carrying two silver briefcases and dressed in a perfectly tailored Brioni tuxedo, and an African-American female wearing a fur coat and speaking in a thick Russian accent, were seen boarding a private plane.

Obama’s campaign office, sources said, was completely vacant aside from a discarded Abraham Lincoln portrait, behind which was an emptied safe that his aides claimed never to have seen before.

In addition, three unconscious Secret Service agents were discovered at the scene, along with two lit cigarettes still burning in an ashtray, and Obama’s daughters, who authorities now believe were taken from an Alabama foster home six years ago.

  3. Ernest Luning, one of the few remaining reporters at my old haunt The Colorado Independent, wrote a similar story this morning about Obama’s special holiday coffee mug.

Similar to the fleece, as Luning puts it, “the plain black mug adorned with an Obama ’08 logo looks suspiciously like the regular non-holiday variety recently offered for sale at the Obama for America’s accessories store, but supporters are assured its purchase will ‘celebrate the historic accomplishment of our movement for change’ this ‘holiday season.'”

These guys really want to break that $1b mark, don’t they?

  4. .

Friday night victory speech in Grant Park,

that he couldn’t accomplish everything he had promised in just one term.

He implicitly was kicking off his 2012 reelection campaign.

No, he is not shooting for $1 Billion for the 2008 Campaign.  That campaign is over.
