Today around noon Rep. Terrance Carroll of Denver was nominated by the House Majority Caucus to be Speaker of the House. He ran against Rep. Anne McGihon and Rep. Kathleen Curry.
One interesting note–McGihon promised to “honor the tradition of the caucus and the body.” Translation–she will not pursue support from the republicans as some had thought she might as the Speaker is not officially chosen by any caucus but by the House as a whole in a recorded vote.

Maybe there is a connection.
(stole the line from Tom Russell, both of them were students of his)
McGihon has worked with republicans CONSTANTLY on HHS, and has done a good job. Further, almost half the bills she sponsored with Massey on the other side, so that partisan charge is bullshit.
The first state in history where both leaders of its legislative chambers at any given time are African Americans.
Damn, that’s amazing. Good for us.
