Thou shall not lie.
-God
It must be hard to be a Republican, to imagine that you have values, and yet to feel forced to defend a man that is so intent on winning that he will tell any lie, say anything, do anything, behave any way to get elected.
A man who once ran on his integrity as his primary selling point, who now resorts to repeating, over and over, bald-faced lies. A lying liar is John Sidney McCain, but a worse spectacle are his supporters, those who pretend to care about ‘country first’ but have no compunction defending his lies, repeating them, even though they must know–if they have any sense–that they are lies.
More-
By now it is well-documented that McCain lies. And lies again.
The NY Times today:
Harsh advertisements and negative attacks are a staple of presidential campaigns, but Senator John McCain has drawn an avalanche of criticism this week from Democrats, independent groups and even some Republicans for regularly stretching the truth in attacking Senator Barack Obama’s record and positions.
The LA Times today:
NEW YORK — John McCain got it wrong Friday when he asserted that his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, had not requested any earmarks, the spending directives lawmakers insert in spending bills that McCain has vowed to eliminate.
Palin, in fact, requested $198 million in federal earmarks in February, including such expenses as $487,000 to fight obesity in Alaska and $4 million to develop recreational trails.
Even Fox News, today:
Aides incorrectly claimed Sarah Palin traveled into Iraq in 2007 and have since clarified that she stopped short at the Kuwait border, The Boston Globe reported Saturday.
The newspaper reported that campaign aides initially claimed the Alaska governor went into Iraq during her overseas trip to visit members of the Alaska National Guard.
But the Globe quoted a campaign spokeswoman clarifying that she visited a military outpost on the Iraq border with Kuwait, but did not have permission to go further.
I am glad that my parents raised me with integrity, taught me that no position, no promise of reward is worth selling that. Who taught me the difference between telling the truth and telling lies, and that lies for self-aggrandizement being the worse of all.
It must be tough to be a Republican, and to imagine that values like honesty matter.

that Republicans both condone, and have no defense of their lying!
Sadly, nearly 50% of Americans can’t see through the fog.
We are a country in trouble.
