JeffCo’s Great 8 brand has served as a unique and effective source for covering local issues that have been too often overlooked by the major Denver newspaper. Sure, we can’t say that the endorsement of any of the Great 8 papers – The Golden Transcript, The Arvada Press, the Lakewood Sentinel, and The Wheat Ridge Transcript – carries as much weight as one from the Denver Post, but many residents do rely on these publications as their primary source for local news.
It’s not like a Great 8 endorsement is going to carry much weight with thousands upon thousands of voters, but such an endorsement does help remind voters that there’s an election going on this year. In that way, we think voters reading a copy of the Arvada Press, for example, may remember to fill out their ballot. They’ll likely check the box next to the name that the paper recommends if only because it’s the only name they’ll remember.
Here’s a list of the Great 8 endorsements as they pertain to each of Jeffco’s cities, as well as the school board race. If anything, it seems like the Great 8 Newspapers endorsed the candidates who are most likely to win in each of their respective races. More evidence that this is one of the least controversial election cycles in JeffCo history, we suppose.

Where are the candidates for Westminster City people.
About half of Westminster is in Jefferson County.
Is this an error, omission or what?
Just curious.
The cities that we do cover here on Jeffco Pols are those that are contained wholly within Jefferson County. That’s because the people who pay attention to Lakewood politics generally pay attention to Wheat Ridge politics and so on and so forth. The elections are interrelated, and they’re all supervised by the Jefferson County Clerk.
We don’t focus on Westminster because it’s not wholly contained within Jeffco, so the issues at play in a Westminster election are different than what goes on in other Jefferson County elections.
That said, you’re welcome to post diaries about what’s going on in Westminster, and we’ll likely promote it if it meets our standards.
Your answer only makes me ask more questions. Wow.
The Jeffco Clerk coordinates the Westminster election as well. It is a distinct possibility that there are more votes in the Jeffco side of Westminster than the entirety of Golden or the entirety of Wheat Ridge.
In addition, it is a fact that Arvada is NOT entirely in Arvada but has a bunch of folks in Adams County?
