  1. I find it curious that there has been no mention or debate on the topic of anonymous donations going to democrtatic candidates in republican targeted races. I am a casual observer to this site and use it to gain intelligent information of the climate of local politics. Is the absence of this subject a result of a democratic bias? Anonymous donors by either party seems to me to be a very slippery slope that could evolve into a very ugly issue. Any comments to help a layman understand would be appreciated.

  4. Anonymous donors is such a widespread and accepted fact that nobody really questions it anymore, I think. It’s a reality of Amendment 27, and both parties do it.

  5. I’m getting excited, I’ve been hearing that Nancy Sharpe is on Bob Beauprez’s short list for Lt. Governor!

She is obviously the most logical choice, and as a longtime Greenwood Village resident I can attest that she would shore up the Denver metro area for Bob!

  6. Nancy Sharpe is a “project management consultant” who is now the mayor of Greenwood Village: 94% white, median family income $145,802.  She has a psych degree from Louisiana State, is on the Denver Ballet Guild and an auxiliary member of the Colorado Ballet, and likes golf.

    Sounds perfect.

  7. Sounds like Nancy could really help Bob clinch that illusive “Colorado Ballet fans who golf” voting block.

Hey Bob, stop talking to Lynn Hefley who will only help you bring in El Paso! With Nancy you could totally dominate in Greenwood Village!

  8. I am a Grassroots Republican activist and I can tell you that as a metro Denver area Grasstoors activists, a Beauprez/Sharpe ticket would attract me and other grassroots activists.

Nancy Sharpe is a political outsider and not one of the establishment Republicans, this would help balance Beauprez’s ticket. She is also a woman and would help greatly with the moderate vote.

  9. good point… both ways bob should step up and announce who is running mate would be, as well. that way, if he decides to be both ways again, and runs for senate or pres in ’08, we’ll know who our next gov will be.

  10. Indeed, now that two of the four candidates for Governor have declared their running mates, Bob Beauprez needs to seize the day!

That person needs to be Nancy Sharpe!

    Nancy knows Transportation!

Nancy will be the perfect compliment to Bob Beauprez’s transportation platform. She is the Chair of the South I-25 Urban Corridor Steering Committee! Whatever Bob Beauprez has planned for transportation, Nancy will get it worked out!

    Nancy is Colorado!

Nancy has lived in Greenwood Village for more than 23 years! She has served as Mayor and a City Council Member!

    Nancy knows business!

Nancy Sharpe’s business experience makes her the Republican answer to John Hickenlooper!

  11. Draft Nancy is either the most clever parody yet on this board or that doo-whacka-doo formerly known as RunAngieRun has a new persona.
But don’t worry, I’ll draft Nancy, all right.  Never heard of her, but the Army can use a few good machine gunners in Iraq right now, and the girl sounds definitely trainable.

  12. I don’t know Voyageur, Nancy is known pretty well in my part of the woods. I wouldn’t underestimate her.

I think Beauprez needs to pick a running mate and put all this rampant speculation to rest.

  13. Nancy Sharpe is the next Lt. Governor of Colorado. She is key to the campaign if BB wants to take Denver and the woman vote.

The only other really good candidate BB could pick would be Lionel Rivera, that way he could solidify El Paso County and cement the Hispanic vote in Colorado in the R column for the next decade.

  14. Some interesting numbers from CO-4.  Musgrave raked in an impressive half-mil, but spent over 200k of it last quarter.

If Angie’s folks want to datamine Musgrave’s FEC filing, they’ll find a lot to run against.  Lots of out-of-state contributions.  Lots of banking, accounting, healthcare and financial industries interests, but the standout contributors were:
Duke Energy and El Paso – both late of energy rate manipulation fame.
Rep. Boehner’s PAC, “The Freedom Project” and Rep. McCrery’s PAC “The Comittee for the Preservation of Capitalism” each contributed $5k this quarter and >=$10k this election cycle; both representatives’ PAC income are tied to the Jack Abramoff scandal.
Friends of Ernest Istook for Congress, and Robert Aderholt for Congress – why are other Congressional campaigns donating their campaign money to Musgrave?
The Tobacco industry – because we have so much tobacco growing in this state?

In short, she’s bought and paid for by elite and sometimes corrupt interests.  Paccione should be proud of having no PAC money.

  15. I can’t tell if this Nancy Sharpe stuff is real or not…

I’m all in favor of Bob bringing her on though. Boths Ways Bob is already the “Denver Congressman” for a bunch of folks around the state. Better to boiler plate that perception by recruiting another Metro Area running mate than to reach out and own another corner of the state by bringing on and “Out of Denver” running mate.

That’s what Ritter has done right?

  16. I would like to think that I know my way around the circles of the 6th Congressional, and I have no clue who Nancy Sharpe is.
Also, I know several Arapahoe County Republicans who visit this site regularly and if Nancy really was factor on the county level as well as Greenwood Village, I’d expect to see something from at least one of them, either good or bad about Nancy. As it is now she seems to be a non-entity at the state or even county level. Not quite the ideal candidate for LT Governor.

  17. This is all great fun and games, but Nancy Sharpe, whoever she is, will not be Beauprez’s running mate. And if I were you, I wouldn’t expect him to announce the running mate anytime soon, even though the list is pretty short at this point.
