MARK CLOER - HD-17 - RESIGNS

  • by: El Paso Rockefeller Republican

In an announcement yesterday, Mark Cloer surpised and dismayed a lot of people when he resigned his recently elected seat. He talks of his 8 year old son and the need to be there for him. It is sad to see someone have family troubles that cause him to have to turn from the legislature. The Rocky Mountain news article is here.

The Republican vacancy committee will be responsible for the appointment as I understand. THis is interesting because the vacancy committee could be more conservative in Colorado Springs and this is a district where Cloer as an incumbent only had a 57.5-42.5 victory margin over a first time candidate who is likely to run again.

Who is likely to get the nod? I don’t know who is on the bench in HD-17. I expect someone who was gearing up to run for the open seat would be the likely shot but I haven’t heard of anyone who has really stepped forward already.

  1. …to do this for the last 4 days, because I havent been able to post.

    Good Riddance!!!!!!!!

One less smarmy, right-wing demogogue in the legislature.  What is it going to take to get Schulthies’ racist keester to resign?

  2. Meets Wednesday, 7PM at the Valley High Golf Course in Colorado Springs. Word is Stella Hicks is wanting the seat. She is the House Chair and has worked close with Cloer both in the district and the Capitol.
