A sad day. Not surprising, but still sad.
What an honorable person. Puts Christ back in "christian".
I'm one of the 6 or 7 people who voted for Carter in 1976 and 1980, and to this day I've never been happier with or prouder of a POTUS vote. The presidency kicked Carter's ass, as it does with decent people,* but ol' Jimmy had the best President Emeritus run since John Quincy Adams, probably the best of all time.
Much love and respect to President Jimmy Carter and family.
*Note that it didn't affect a certain old, incontinent, morbidly obese adderally junkie/serial rapist at all.
I was one of the other 6 or 7, Genghis. I was tempted to vote for John Anderson but then kept hearing those commercials saying, "A vote for Anderson is a vote for Reagan."
In the end it didn't matter. Anderson was no Ralph Nader or Jill Stein. (You didn't think I'd miss the opportunity to work her into the conversation, did you, Tree?)
In hindsight, I'm proud to say I voted for Carter both times.
I've said it before and will probably say it again: no matter how far we get from 2016, the term "Jilliot" will never, ever get old.
Another proud two-term Carter voter here. We used to make fun of his accent and his peanut farm, but never his compassion nor values.
