    Today’s good weather is a bonus for the MLK, Jr. Marade in Denver.

    Denver’s Marade is a march and parade. It is both a celebration of successes and recognition of all the work still to be done to advance civil rights and racial equity in Colorado and around the country.

    The event has grown to be one of the largest MLK Jr. Day celebrations in the country.

    The NWS tells us there is a “WINTER STORM POSSIBLE LATE TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.”

    Merchant of Death here. Hello comrades, it's been a while since our last communication. I've been swamped establishing my ties with Iran and China. We are helping comrade Vad build up his supply of missiles and artillery. So while we are killing those pesky Ukrainians, I hope you have enjoyed watching the WNBA.

    See you soon,

    Merchant of Death

    I haven’t kept careful track in recent years. Do the winguts still contend that MLK’s fondest wish was that smooth-brained white kids have an unqualified right to attend the college or university of their choice?

    "You get Nothing." H/T TPM.

    Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) was more colorful, borrowing a counteroffer from The Godfather.

    “In exchange for not crashing the United States economy, you get nothing,” Schatz told The Daily Beast.

    “You don’t get a cookie. You don’t get to be treated like you’re the second coming of LBJ,” he added. “You’re just a person doing the bare minimum of not intentionally screwing over your constituents for insane reasons.”

  5. ParkHill says:

    "On the One Hand"… Trump is a Crook.  H/T TPM.

    …at most administrative sloppiness;

    the other is willful theft of government documents, refusal to return them, claims to own U.S. government documents, ongoing obstruction of government attempts to retrieve the documents.

    H/T EmptyWheel:

    The Executive Order that governed classification for the entirety of the Trump Administration, and still governs classification, treats the Vice President on par with the President. The EO that governs classified information gives the Vice President the same original classification authority it gives the President, which is where the authority to declassify comes from.

    (a) The authority to classify information originally may be exercised only by:

    (1) the President and the Vice President;

    The language on post-tenure access (which Trump later invoked in arguments before the 11th Circuit) also applies to the Vice President in the same way as the President.

    (a) The requirement in section 4.1(a)(3) of this order that access to classified information may be granted only to individuals who have a need-to-know the information may be waived for persons who:

    [snip]

    (3) served as President or Vice President.

      Wyoming. Dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century…

    • harrydoby says:

      Shoot!  I thought they were man enough in Wyoming to mandate coal-fired steam engines in their vehicles!

      PS. Call me a cheap whore. I discovered the price at which I can be bought. Last week’s massive price drop for all Teslas was enough to push me to order a new Model Y. The effective price after tax credits is around $44,000.

    Oregon Congresswoman hit by car. Just a generic accident, not a MAGA nutcase .

  8. DavidThi808 says:

    True story – MLK was an avid Trekkie and convinced Nichelle Nichols to stay on the show.

    • kwtree says:

      People need to be able to envision the future they want- the Trekkie future was an earth at peace, with a global multiracial and multicultural government. Plus the “United Federation of Planets” included Vulcan and other cultures, including eventually Klingon.🖖🏽
