Podcast: The Blue Wave Cometh (feat. Andrew Baumann)

Andrew Baumann

This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, your hosts Jason Bane and Ian Silverii talk once again with Andrew Baumann, senior vice president of research at Global Strategy Group and the lead pollster for the quarterly “Rocky Mountaineer” poll in Colorado. Baumann explains why the latest poll numbers here look so darn good for Democrats and whether any of that could change in the final weeks of the 2022 election.

We also update you on the latest news from the election season, including a conversation on (some) of the 11 statewide ballot measures in Colorado; we discuss how much longer the Colorado Springs Gazette will be taken seriously given its absurd editorial department; and we offer an important tip for all potential candidates for future office.

  1. Pols, any way that you could create a short written summary here? Like others, I suspect, I don't have time to sit through a 90 minutes podcast.

    1. Agreed, CHB.

Dead guvs: I'd love a short written summary, too. If I were still on the road a lot as I was in my previous gigs, I'd love podcasts. But in retirement, when we travel we prefer audiobooks. I never listen to podcasts.

  2. This helped me decide how to vote on some ballot initiatives. My ballot’s complete except for the judges, and for that one can check our judicial performance reviews.

Here’s a summary of the podcast for CHB:

Pollster Baumann of The Mountaineer predicts a blue wave for Colorado. Reason: mostly, candidate quality.Ganahl is losing, but throwing another million at TV ads. Vote straight Dem.

Rundown of ballot initiatives: ( either my own or Pols recs) Yes on D, no on E. Yes on FF and GG. No on 121, yes on 122 and 123.No on 124, 125, 126. Yes on question 2I, 2J, 2K,2L. Yes on 305, 306, 307.

    1. I mailed my ballot on Monday and didn’t keep a record of who I voted for, mainly because I never got the usual Blue Book this time around. I did find some Rs to vote for down ballot in the county. Passed on the judges due to lack of quickly available information.

I voted No on FF and GG for reasons already given. I observed the Denver Post also encouraged a NO vote on both. Yes on 124, No on 125, no on 126.

Good Republicans are getting scarce in this state. There are still a few in the Legislature. You can ID them by using Conservation Colorado’s scorecard, if it’s been posted.
