SATURDAY UPDATE: 9NEWS’ Kyle Clark walloped Danny Moore for his brazenly false attempt at reinvention last night. Sorry about the awful embedding, 9NEWS hasn’t posted the video in a better format and copyright obliges us to use their uploads:

Once again demonstrating that anything, including silence, is better than lying–especially when everyone knows better. The only thing 9NEWS missed was Moore’s implicit attack on Republican Secretary of State candidate Pam Anderson (see below), who chaired an election assistance organization Moore cited to justify his embrace of election conspiracy theories.

Danny Moore is truly fighting the dumpster fire of Heidi Ganahl’s campaign with gasoline instead of water.

FRIDAY UPDATE: As anyone with even half a brain could have predicted, Danny D’oh’s dumb effort to avoid questions about election denialism has failed miserably.

Danny Moore, running mate for @heidiganahl, is trying to rewrite his own history in this column deflecting from his previous election denying comments.

Instead of welcoming Ganahl’s first choice Las Animas County Commissioner Felix Lopez to the team, Ganahl has spent the last week and a half doing damage control over what’s broadly perceived to be another disastrous misstep:

Unfortunately for Ganahl, just like her failure to plan for natural questions about the 2020 elections when she launched her campaign, the failure to account for Moore’s baggage only focused further attention on the issue. There’s no way Ganahl was unaware of Moore’s prior controversy on the redistricting commission, which means she had to have known this was going to be a problem when Moore joined the campaign. Once again, Ganahl’s failure to prepare for a fully predictable situation is astounding.

And then today, in an attempt to “clear the air” in an in-kind contribution guest op-ed in the Phil Anschutz-owned Colorado Springs Gazette, Danny Moore made things worse.

Much, much worse.

Many Coloradans have expressed concerns regarding the integrity of the 2020 election. But I believe and have always believed, that Joe Biden was legitimately elected president and that he is our commander in chief…

The entirety of this opening statement is false. According to every poll, Coloradans overwhelmingly trust and are satisfied with our election system, which enjoys one of the highest rates of voter participation in the nation. As for Moore stating he has “always believed that Joe Biden was legitimately elected,” that’s just nonsense, as our readers know and the Denver Post reported ten days ago:

Moore, a Navy veteran from Colorado Springs, previously served as chair of the state’s Independent Redistricting Commission that redrew the Colorado congressional map. He was removed from that position — though not from the commission altogether — by his colleagues in April 2021 due to controversial comments he’d made on Facebook. Among his posts: falsely claiming that President Joe Biden was not “elected by the people,” but rather “elected by the Democrat steal”; [Pols emphasis] claiming without evidence that mail-in ballots can increase fraud; and calling on Republicans to use the court system to “erase those gains” made by Democrats in 2020.

Moore’s opening defense is an easily-debunked lie–but then, in an effort to prove he is not an election conspiracy theorist, Moore proceeds to recite the very conspiracy theories he is trying to distance himself from:

No, “stolen” is not the right descriptor for the election. That said, there were legitimate concerns over a number of election issues:

The mainstream liberal media ignoring key stories that made their candidate look bad.

Big tech playing favorites and controlling what political reporting we saw online.

A liberal Facebook billionaire spending hundreds of millions to infiltrate county election offices, so they could push data sharing agreements, voting methods and outreach efforts in heavily Democrat areas… [Pols emphasis]

Take particular note of this allegation. Danny Moore is referring to an election conspiracy theory involving donations made by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to an organization called the Center for Technology and Civic Life (CTCL). These were donations for the purpose of helping underfunded elections officials across the country deal with the added burdens imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and as Moore says, the theory is that the money disproportionately benefited Democratic precincts.

In Colorado, there’s just one problem. The Republican nominee for Secretary of State Pam Anderson sits on the board of CTCL, and was hit with this very same false attack leveled by Anderson’s then-opponent election denier Tina Peters. Here’s Anderson’s own explanation of her role in CTCL and what the organization does:

So, maybe that’s true. Or maybe, like Colorado’s GOP nominee for lieutenant governor says, our state’s GOP nominee for Secretary of State is part of a plot to “infiltrate county election offices” to help Democrats! This is going to make for an awkward moment when Moore and Anderson find themselves sharing a stage this fall.

And the judicial system allowing Democratic operatives to make massive last-minute changes to voting laws in various key states that were not prepared to handle mail-in balloting.

Again, the scare tactics over mail ballots simply don’t work in a state like Colorado where mail ballots have been the uncontroversial norm for almost a decade now. We’ve debunked this boogeyman with our own experience, and that’s before you realize that the “Democratic operatives” Moore is talking about are lawmakers. And “the judicial system” found what the lawmakers did to be (wait for it) legal.

On the strength of this baffling set of arguments, Moore declares:

We are done responding to this politically driven question about the 2020 election. We will point the media to this piece when they say I have not answered the election question for each of you.

Got it? Moore demands the press accept he is not an election denier…by making the case for election denial.

It’s an absurdity rarely witnessed in real life. We’re amazed it made it into public view.
