2. Her final op-ed for the NYTimes, a month ago, was brilliant.  She knew Putin as a newly-minted dictator/autocrat, and he made clear his goals for Russia.  Her notes of that first meeting described him as small, pale, and reptilian.

3. I was reminded of one of her visits back to an event for the Korbel School at the University of Denver, introducing a speech by Condeleeza Rice when she was accepting an award.  I found coverage of the event — with several anecdotes of the evening similar to one that was in the Denver Post:

   Rice was introduced by Korbel’s daughter — Madeleine Albright, secretary of state in the Clinton administration. Albright said her father referred to Rice as “his favorite student.”

   “And this is why this wonderful black woman from Alabama was writing her dissertation on the Czechoslovakian army,” said Albright.

   Albright recalled when Rice told her she was a Republican. “Condi, how could you?” Albright recounted. “We had the same father.”

   The Honorable Madelaine Albright will be remembered … and as was said in the religion of her grandparents, "May her memory be for blessing."
