The GOP wants the last minute deal to raise the debt limit to include a Constitutional amendment to balance the federal budget. Just like the conservatives in our great state, they want to use a permanent answer to fix a temporary problem.
Not only that, they want to follow Colorado’s example and budget by equation more than actual decisions. Just look at how well that’s working for us! Hickenlooper: Lobato lawsuit could devastate Colorado.
Have Republicans even looked into possible downsides to a balanced budget amendment? No, because there’s no time to!
The arguments I hear from the right are akin to debating the proper size of pipes for your home while your basement floods from a clogged pipe. Fix the temporary problem with a temporary answer, THEN work on the long term solution.
Anyone who wants a balanced budget amendment BEFORE the debt ceiling is raised is focusing on the wrong answer to the wrong question.
