A Brief Goodbye and Thanks

To ColoradoPols, its community, and its regular lurkers: it has been an honor.

Over the past six years I’ve spent countless hours perusing the rambling commentary, friendly banter, loveless diatribe, and informative journalism of this site in an effort to better educate myself on local and national politics. And, in the end, I thank you all for helping me succeed. What started as only a slight interest eventually developed into a regular hobby, and at times became something of an addiction. In the grand scheme I suppose Pols was my dealer. But, all good things must come to an end, and due to the best choice I’ve ever made, life is sending me in some new directions.

I like to think of myself as a regular on this site, but looking back I was probably nothing more than another random voice that would pop up here and there. Believe me, though, I was around. To be honest, my ignorance was my muzzle. I’m a relatively young professional with a day job that has nothing to do with politics, but I found myself glued to the site year round (Politics: the greatest spectator sport there is, right?). I’ve enjoyed witnessing the growth of the site and its community, and appreciate the dedication of those that continually make it through the chaos of election season without being completely turned off by new handles that dominate threads, only to disappear without a peep come the second week of November. I’ve laughed at the multitudes of fake personalities and will continually wish for the return of “Doug Lamborn has Godlike Qualities”. And beyond all else, I’ve appreciated finding one resource in which to receive not only up-to-date news and information, but also insightful commentary of varying opinions and perspectives.

As I mentioned earlier, life is sending me in some new directions, and I am delighted to say that in a few weeks I will be married to the girl of my dreams, and upon return from our honeymoon, we will be packing our things and moving to London to begin our life together.

I’ll be back around each election to do my best to catch up before sending in my ballot, so keep things short, sweet and civil, would ya’?

The power of this site is in its community. Take the time to listen to those who differ in opinion with you. As I’ve realized, you may learn a little about yourself. Thank you to you all for helping me find a new passion in life.

Sincerely,

Justin Webb

  1. I’ll give London Pols a shot, although I’m pretty certain I’ll spend most of my time confusing Boris Johnson for Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber.

If anyone does know of a London based company looking for marketing help, let me know.

  2. But it seems it’s a shame I didn’t. Congrats on the marriage and the move! Don’t tell the Brits what Rocky Mountain Oysters are.

  3. Thanks for the thoughtful diary and the nice words. Seems to me the interwebs reach all the way across the pond, so you don’t really need to be a stranger.

On the other hand, since you are just getting married…you will be busy for a while.  ðŸ˜‰

Congratulations to you and your love, and Via con Dios!
