Putin’s the second largest exporter of natural gas globally behind our bootstrappers (who just tried to rob $300 million from our agricultural fund).

Eight years ago this week, as guests of the German government, our national "25x'25" steering committee toured renewable projects all across Germany: dairy farms powered 100% by methane capture projects; the community of Dardesheim, powered 100% by renewables. Solar feed-in-tariffs for producers large and small. Large wind projects designed for negative dispatch.
Energiewende (German for energy transition), was the brainchild of the very conservative farmers from the Bavarian region. They understood they, too, could be energy producers. What could possibly be more conservative than the right to be an energy producer, using local resources, trapping those dollars in the local economy? What they discovered is that once you remove the barriers to entry put in place by the fossil fuel and nuclear industry, entrepreneurs can and do fill the void the industry claims would exist without them.
Maybe Yosemite Sam should drop by Montrose and visit what may be the most progressive rural electric in the United States: Delta-Montrose REA.
If this woman gets elected, she will provide two years of comic relief for all of us.

Holy shit! I just listened to Calamity Janes’ video… It is worse than I thought. She is reading the same set of 3×5 note cards former state senator Steve King brought to the Bagel Street Irregulars group some years ago.
It featured the same set of non fact-based talking points your hear above. Some circumstances and names are different, but it is the same schlock.
King left the meeting in a rage because the liberal loudmouths, led by my good friend and columnist Bill Grant, shredded him and left him stammering. The mile wide, inch deep, accusation is not new to western slope GOP electeds. It has always been so.
Western Colorado Republicans do not elect those who think for themselves.

Well, it depends. Colorado Geological Survey puts it this way:
"cleanest" — e.g., low sulfur and low mercury — was a powerful attraction to some of the coal plants back East.
Coal, like oil, has different properties depending on where it is mined and the geological circumstances of its creation.
Anthracite is more brittle than bituminous coal and burns hotter (higher carbon content), but is relatively rare compared to bituminous and sub-bituminous deposits. Of course, even peat can be burned for fuel, but is very dirty and inefficient.
Suffice it to say that all Calamity Jane knows about coal is what she reads on the 3×5 card given to her by the local GOP leadership. That is all she needs to know to represent western slope Trumplicans©.
