President Trump, trailing badly in the polls, floated the idea of delaying the November presidential election:

With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???

David Plouffe: “The line between autocracy and democracy just become threadbare. Every GOP leader and candidate needs to be asked to respond to this desperate attempt to cling to power.“

From Salon: Just the opinion of two psychiatrists and a clinical psychologist. Probably worth noting.

Would-be dictator Donald Trump would be unstoppable in a second term. That must not happen

…As mental health professionals, we cannot remain silent. Trump's authoritarian presidency is a national emergency.

Donald Trump is a malignant narcissist with antisocial proclivities and a core sadism. It is this combination of psychopathology that leads him to be intensely attracted to the powers of a dictator. Indeed, Trump has proven repeatedly that he wants America to be an autocracy, not a democracy. He has systemically and purposefully guided our country toward dictatorial rule during the past four years. He has frequently embraced, admired, complimented, envied and even fawned over autocratic leaders throughout the world.

Donald Trump in a second term would be unstoppable. And America might be changed forever.

Ninety six days until Trump's fall

    Already he's screaming in fear.

Live this day in a loving way

Then throw the bum out on his rear!

Trumperoo Court Judge Neomi Rao gets pulled up short by her colleagues:

The full U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit agreed Thursday to revisit U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan’s plan to examine the politically charged matter, reviving the unusual case testing the limits of the judiciary’s power to check the executive branch.

A bit of good news from Denver (my emphasis):

After responding to a link on a webpage and filling in a survey on working as an elections volunteer, I got this email yesterday

Thank you so much for your overwhelming response to our recruitment survey in the first week we have already over 500 responses.  This is amazing!  We are currently going through the responses and starting to do initial placements and we are hoping assignment emails will start going out mid-August.  Please stay tuned for more information.

    Thank you!

Another whack job Trump nominee gets the hook — from the GOP chairman!

The Senate Armed Services Committee canceled Thursday's confirmation hearing for Pentagon policy chief nominee Anthony Tata, who's under fire for once calling former President Barack Obama a "terrorist leader," among other controversial statements.

It is unclear whether the hearing will be rescheduled or if Tata's nomination will be withdrawn. A statement from Senate Armed Services Chair Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) said the committee didn't have enough information to hold the hearing Thursday.

Holy Crap — Even the Federalist Society founder is calling Trump a Fascist

Trump Might Try to Postpone the Election. That’s Unconstitutional.

He should be removed unless he relents.

    By Steven G. Calabresi

Mr. Calabresi is a co-founder of the Federalist Society and a professor at Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law.

I have voted Republican in every presidential election since 1980, including voting for Donald Trump in 2016. I wrote op-eds and a law review article protesting what I believe was an unconstitutional investigation by Robert Mueller. I also wrote an op-ed opposing President Trump’s impeachment.

But I am frankly appalled by the president’s recent tweet seeking to postpone the November election. Until recently, I had taken as political hyperbole the Democrats’ assertion that President Trump is a fascist. But this latest tweet is fascistic and is itself grounds for the president’s immediate impeachment again by the House of Representatives and his removal from office by the Senate.

Caption this. The Twitter thread photoshops are fantastic.

Notice how short-fingered vulgarian's  fingers were awkwardly lengthened after the image was finished.

The author of "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?", and the woman who said, "I freed a thousand slaves – I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves." (Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman) weren't bloody likely to lay hands in blessing on Donald Trump.

Checking a variety of the prediction sites, and was stunned to read The Economist's Model conclusion:

Right now, our model thinks Joe Biden is very likely to beat Donald Trump in Colorado.  9 electoral votes

Chance of winning  the most votes

Joe Biden  Democrat  better than 19 in 20  or 99%

Donald Trump Republican less than 1 in 20 or 1%

    Predicted popular vote share

    Joe Biden  52-61%

    Donald Trump 39-48%
